Looks like the nut he really needed to check was the loose nut behind the wheel.

I think he trail braked and that initiated the spin and it was all over after that probably going 55-65mph. 40 seems slow crawl for an evo

11-26-2006, 11:24 PM
i think he came in too hot, yanked the wheel hard left for the first turn and then coming over the slight crest as he started to steer right... the rear end lifted and it came around.. that and he probably lifted off the gas and tapped the break = more disaster.

inYubaSha
11-26-2006, 11:55 PM
okay where the tracks are in the gravel, I was sideways, facing the fence. when I hit the grass the rear swung 90 degrees, and I straightened the wheel and braked hard, going backwards parallel to the road. at the very end the back jumped left, and up onto the electric wire. (left rear in air) lemme get the witnesses opinions

less swaybar (or none) would make the rearend softer and help with grip in the rear.

it hard for me to tell exactly where things started going wrong in those pics but the road does look
like it drops away a little in the middle of the esse(sp?) like there is a little rise at the first part.
you lift throttle or trail brake over that and the rear is definitely breaking loose on you if you're going in hot enough.

agreed... I also wonder if he is on the stock advans in the rain.

stock advans suck in the rain, and I would recommend getting new tires for the winter time.

JDM rear? You shouldn't be pushing an evo that hard when you have less than a month with it. Take this as a lesson, just because the evo is near supercar status in the turns doesn't mean it makes you a super driver in those same turns. Instead of scratch remover in March you should look into HPDE instead.

wow...ppl on here think they kno everything dont they. u messed up...everyone does it once in a while. some ppl just dont have 500 to spend on a track so whats better then free track time on back roads? u spin out or crash so what? its all ur fault and thoes are the risks..shit happens...life goes on.

No claiming,Â* Â*I'll wait for the gold medal b4 I do that.Â* Â*BTW the pics are the next morning w/dew on the grass.Â* Â*It was perfectly dry and I made it through the turns nice an mellow.Â* Â*last one gassed it and wanted to hear tires sing.Â* Â* Â*-Â* Â*1/2 sec laterÂ* Â*- tires screaming in agonyÂ* Â* Â* Â*My driving book says to straighten out and stop.Â* Â*I was pretty happy with the result.Â* Â* Â*
P.S.S. the fourth photo is looking back (not the direction i was going)

have we established if that spin was possible in 40 mph? coz i dont think it is for an evo...

craziazzmofo66
04-17-2007, 05:38 PM
not to be mean, but i think someone needs to learn to drive or just slow down........and please dont say we learn from our own mistakes. cause so far it seems like there have been some very expensive mistakes. they were mistakes that were unnessacary, and probably couldve been avoided. please be safer out there, spend ur money moddin the car instead of fixin damages, its much more rewardin.

Oh you can (and I have) spin an Evo at just about any speed, did you think the car comes with a Magic Stability Control Fairy that makes spinning impossible below a certain speed?

Back on topic, looks like someone should be hitting cones and not hitting curbs...

Yah dude please keep it at the track....unless you have lots of money to blow on fixing stuff...either that or learn not to lift throttle over steer or be smoother with the wheel at the very least....jerking the wheel is how you end up sliding everywhere.

your neighbors have goats!!!? that's funny as hell. reminds me of my senior prank in high school, we stole two goats from a guy that lived down the road and snuck them into the lunch room, let them loose on the underclassmen. they litterly shat little pellets everywhere it was priceless kids were throwing up and sliding around in all the goat pellets and we never got caught, i hope my old principal isnt on this forum.
