So who do their own tire mounting?
If you do, what kinda tools do I need and what kinda things I need to watch out for?
(I did a search... so buying my own tire mounting machine isn't the option here )

If you bring it to the shop,
who has a good deal around the SF/Pennisula?

I usually go to Mach3 on Ocean Ave.

They charge like $60 bucks to mount/dismount/balance and dispose of old tires. I heard they have one of the nicer machines in the San Francisco area.

I never had them scratch a rim. Only do that with them though everything else sucks there.

Yeah, go to Mach 3 if you are in the SF area, or if you are closer to the east bay, you can go to Motorsport Techniques, they are about the same price and do alot of high-end wheels, so their machine wont scratch your wheels either.

You can't mount and balance tires properly without the right equipment. This isn't like changing your bicycle tire.

I'd have to agree with Spinone05

I change my own tires/ballance. oh yea I work at a Auto shop I forgot. It can be done with out a tire machine but you have to go to Mexico and find someone to do it for u.
I work with a guy that used to do tires by hand in Mexico, not recomended, very hard to do, but I guess if its the only way then you do what you have to.
