For any of you guys that had an EGT bung drilled into the manifold. My probe is a little loose, is there any type of sealant ie. loctite or something I should get for it?

Any type of feedback is greatly appriciated. :D

If I were you, I'd have the bung actually welded onto the manifold. Most EGT probes are two parts, the threaded piece that you thread into the manifold and is threaded on the inside to thread the probe into. We usually weld those on to prevent them from backing themselves out. If you have any questions, you can give us a call.

What type of EGT probe are you using? The greddy probe is held in by the lock nut squeezing onto the probe. The bung is threaded into the manifold. If you tapped too deep in to the manifold the threads won't be tapered and the bung can become loose

I agree with Early Apex, this is the same reason why we weld them in=D

At this point, welding may be your only option. However, I didn't want to weld mine in because I was worried that the extreme heat would cause expansion, and eventually cracking. ???

Hey guys,

Yes, welding does seem like your only option at this point, unless you want to plug up the current hole for the bung and drill/tap a new hole. Matz, yes, if it is not done correctly by a professional TIG welder, then you'll have problems. Usually, for a cast factory-style manifold, we leave it up to the owner if they want to have it welded, because you have more material to tap (acutal threads). But on a tubular manifold, you want to have it welded BY A PROFESSIONAL... Too many times have we seen poor welding work done by someone that knew a guy who's cousin could weld (this is a true situation), and have the piece be destroyed. Anyway, if you guys have any other questions, feel free to send me a PM or e-mail...

JDMgrafiteMR,

to weld the bung on, it's $50 off the car. If you can bring us the manifold, we should be able to do it right away. If you need us to take the manifold off, let me now what manifold you have, and we can go from there.
