Greetings Fellow Enthusiasts,

After six years of development, Ohlins has finally introduced the DFV series of coilovers for the Mitsubishi Evolution platform.Â* Ohlins newest suspension is the DFV series, which is named after their Dual Flow Valve (DFV) system.Â* This control is installed on both the compression and rebound cycles of the shock absorber.Â* The bodies for the inverted fronts are composed of steel casings and aluminum brackets while the rears are aluminum casings that compliment the super light components that make up the rear suspension.Â* In addition the spring preload is independent of the ride height adjustment. The Ohlins DFV provide 20 levels of adjustability that adjusts the compression and rebound cycle of the shock at the same time.

Are the old R&T's upgradeable to this new valve?

To be clear, there's still only one adjuster on these (rebound and compression at the same time).

Right on. Note my link for more info (edited the post).

I was about to recommend these to you Bryan in the Thill 11/17 post but I had last minute doubts (about their availability) given Ohlins' somewhat confusing model naming scheme.

$2699. Minus NCE discount. Plus tax. Top mounts/camber plates not included (the "Stage III" kit does). So about the same price as the Road&Tracks were.

Yeah, that's what I meant.Â* What turned me off about the old R&T setup was having to change spring lengths to change ride height.

Mark,

You probably know this, but the old ones are somewhat ride height adjustable (although you'll change the preload).

Here's a pic of the later generation ones that have the helper springs to keep the main springs in place. That allows (and requires) use of 8" springs regardless of ride height.
