as you can see it's a little lean according to the wideband there

plugs are just slightly brown with no signs of detonation or overheating.

turbo is going on in a few weeks, my goal is another 100whp and finally some TORQUE!

I had the DRAG Gen II kit on my old civic, and thought it was pretty decent, even without any real tuning. what turbo kit will you be going with Tyler?

TylerO@WORKS
06-24-2004, 03:13 PM
the "kit" is all custom actually.

t3/t4 hybrid turbo with an ultra secret trim!

I will be doing the tuning with a little help from Pete. I'm going to be using a cool FREE program called Uberdata for the tuning.

the coolest part will be the tubular manifold... totally custom and awesome to say the least. I haven't even seen it yet!

need less to say i'll be blowing stock evos away... once i get some traction! :D

Actually on the last drive I was keeping up with the evos really well now that I got the suspension dialed in a little more!

Kept having to slow down cause that stock WRX in front of me

Yeah after the turbo it's all suspension and BRAKES!

that's some pretty good numbers!!! high 14 a/f at 6k+ is pretty lean. if it was 4g63, pistons would have melted!!! What are the plans after the turbo kit? b20 block?... I saw the top fuel turbo EK blow by the FD on the straight of Tsukuba circuit in a best motoring video... that thing is crazy!!!

235whp and 160tq is damn good all motor!

i was going to swap in a k20 (JDM RSX motor) and go all motor but for a third the price i can be a lot faster w/ turbo.

Besides, boost is addictive. I got my first REAL taste of boost driving the WORKS shop car with the big turbo! That car scary fast.

to make the b16 or b18c fast you must do internals ,
how about this for a set up
B18c1 2.0l 85.5mm
JE pistons 10.1CR , crowder rods , oversize valves 1mm port and polish
4.4FD , garret turbo . capable of boosting 16psi capable of 400whp+ runing c-12 (110 octane )

K20 type R motor are great , friend of mine is making 210whp 155tq with just an intake, header and exhaust . with hondata or EMS the car is capable of near 230whp , hasport and hytech have built moster set ups . Near 300whp and almost 200tq . The K20 serious motor is sick !! that would of been my choice , screw FI lol . nothing like keeping up or beating FI cars with All motor set up.

009
06-25-2004, 09:46 AM
with that set upo, how much it will cost? and reliable?
a friend of mine doin gsr with type r internal, his piece of shit blew gasket 3 times now. talking about improper tuning

GokuSSJ4

ok for an all motor B serious like a b18c/c1/c5
you need to re sleeve the block (RS does great work)
85.5mm depending on who does your work you are looking at 3500-4000 for a complete bottom end (both , n/a or FI) different Compression
includes crank, JE pistons (or your choice) , crowder rods, balance and blue printed .
Its up to you to decide what type of fuel you will be running and especially for n/a are you willing to sacrifice and run c-12 mix or all the time .
something you can get away with running from 11.5-12.1CR on pump gas . anything above that will be with either a lot of tuning retarting*the*timing( not getting the best out of the motor) or mixing c-12 fuel like 12.3-13.5 CR im sure more CR can be done but for a street set up i wouldnt recommend it.
head work is near 1000.00 + valvetrain (depends which cams you choose) but a top notch valvetrain is Toda 360.00 ti retainers 160.00
cams like jun, toda, go from 900-1100.00
skunk you are able to purchase at 720.00
valves for FI SS oversize would work great so thats 360.00 for all motor ITR is more then enough 300.00
cam gears 300.00 , fuel management like hondata 200-300.00 , or EMS 1200.00 injectors for all motor 440cc , or FI 320.00
custom header for n/a hytech, an -r or even toda 900-1200.00 SS header, and the basic bolt ons .
with Fi that would cover the block and head build up and you can add the turbo kit to that . stock cams like gsr or itr are more then enough.

Cool.. how about a video as well. I just love listening to those Hondas @ 9500rpm WOT with TODA upgrades mated into a 4.79 FD. :D I just can imagine how quickly this motor revs to redline and then shift.

And also, what do you mean by TODA Spec D cams. I've never heard of it unless your referring to the VTEC killer cams which is 12.0mm lift and a max of 305 duration on the primary and secondary intake lobes. BTW... no VTEC. Or did you mean Spec C.

DB8 ~ who loves TODA products and wishes he could afford them. :P

These camshafts are made in Japan by Toda Racing specially for Erick's Racing (Spec 'D').
Billet camshafts using the best material and manufacturing process to achieve high quality and reliability.
Large primary lobe (low speed) to improve mid range torque and smooth VTEC transition.
High lift / long duration secondary lobe (high speed) for maximum output at high rpm.
Available for B16 / B18.
$1150 per set.
Specifications:

Valve Lift Duration
Intake Primary 11mm 250
Intake Secondary 11mm 250
Intake High (VTEC) 12.9mm 305
Exhaust Primary 11mm 250
Exhaust Secondary 11mm 250
Exhaust High (VTEC) 11.9mm 315

These camshafts are high lift and duration, designed for use in road race and drag race engines. You will need custom valve retainers & valve springs, plus deeper valve relief cutouts in the pistons. Valve to valve and valve to piston clearance must be measured before the cams are adjusted using cam gears.

honda's are a lot of fun , built properly. imagine having over 30+mpg and being able to run 12's with a bullet proof tranny.
an thats on an EK which is near 2300-2400 lbs.
EG hatch can be easily at 1900-2000lbs that means 11's all day long. At the track with the proper suspension set up, brakes and some one that knows how to drive will be very competitive.
the bad thing with honda's and acura , there stolen left and right :pissed:

this was before headwork, just cams and bottom end work at 12.3CR , after that port and polish was done and compression was raise to 12.8CRthe dyno is excellent for tuning and it reads power at the flywheel which the car made 250hp , which was 220whp .but more tuning need it to be done.

i had tokico illuminas before on my gsr and when i had the ground control coilovers the shocks gave out on me. from experience i would say that the illuminas was to soft for the street especially attached to the ground control coilovers. if i were you i would definitely invest in some quality shocks like koni or just buy the whole coilover set up (tein, zeal, buddy club, apex i. etc. etc. )
