WOW....

The V10 is the only high-revving power unit to be featured in a series-production car. The M5's engine has ten cylinders, a cubic capacity of 5 litres and produces a maximum output of 507 bhp and a maximum torque of 520 Newton metres

With a red line of 8,250 rpm

seven-speed SMG gearbox

they are claiming power to weight ratio in the range of the 911 turbo so this thing will still be quick and likely colser to 3800 pounds which is lighter than an S4. The issue they face is that the current e55 is probably a faster straightline due to the fact is has much more torque that the M5, there have been some ad nauseum discussions about this on M5board.com many people have been complaining about the cars power plant saying it should have come in with 550 hp.

yeah, harder to make 550hp without a blower ... not BMW's style though
