Varis makes these also but the one pictured is different. I believe they either mount with 3M double sided tape or you have to drill holes on the bumper. One last thing. They only look good if your exhaust goes directly straight like the Greddy Ti or Perrin. Meaning not JDM style with the muffler going at an angle like RMR etc.

If you think that's expensive, check the RMR Winglet

the varis carbon exhaust shield was only meant for the jdm/euro bumpers and not our bumpers. this heat shield was meant for our cars and street image is the first vendor to start mass producing a carbon shield. $95 bucks seems a lot, so does other carbon fiber products.

yeah the RMR winglet price is outrageous!, even their carbon guage pod

From the looks of it I would venture to say that it is held on by Rivits. Very nice looking piece.

3M double-sided stick tape sounds around about right, but doesnt the heat from the exhaust cause the stick, not stick anymore after about a while?

dude come on 3m tape? he he are you kidding do you know how hot that area gets? Its gotta be riveted on seriously think about it tail pipe heat can melt the paint if you have a short exhaust tip 3m tape my ass FYI

It uses a combination of doubled-sided tape and 2 self tapping screws to mount. Riveting is an option if you really want it to stay in place.

a carbon exhaust shield...

lame... WTF is it going to do on a hot day, make my bumper break apart when I am traveling at high speeds? (aka space shuttle)

IMHO, if you like this product its all about image and not about speed....

The whole point of it is to protect your bumper, how would it make it break apart? Since CF's melting point is vastly greater than plastic, if you have an exhaust that is too close (or misaligned) then it will definently help. It's not sold as a performance enhancing part, it's sold a bumper protector. The only other one I'm aware of is a metal one that sticks out is quite ugly, imo, but it's about $18 from Lancershop iirc.

The part that failed on the shuttle were cermanic tiles not carbon fiber. The thermal absorbtion of CF will be significantly greater than the ABS plastic that our bumpers are made from, hence it will better able to absorb the heat generated by the exhaust. Performance enhancing, no, but if your concerned about damage to the bumper from the exhaust then the price is much cheaper than a new bumper.
