what i think you really need is a boost and an air/fuel gauge... thats what i have...works for me...with all those gauges on the car, you barely read them except for the air/fuel and boost...cuz you can tell if your car is having problem

Just to clarify, the A/F should be of the wideband variety and not the disco light show gauge commonly used (like the one I have hooked up at the moment ;)). Even those will age (especially if you're using leaded gas) and become slow to respond. The logger, however, is invaluable and will allow you to go back and look at things much closer. This frees up your mind to concentrate on driving. The more gauges you have, the better IMO, but I typically only use them for quick reference and rarely will stare at any one of them longer than a second or so ;)

I am getting ready to pick up some gauges and I have pretty much decided on boost and oil pres, I am going to do a third but I am wondering how hard it is to install the EGT, or the elec water temp, or I heard of an air intake temp with 2 needles before and after intrecoller?

Please post any help on install.

Don't bother with the EGT gauge if you go wideband, which is what I would suggest with the UTEC.

$200 for the EGT gauge
$480 for the TXS Tuner

Well, of course, you may really want a real time display/warning feature. So, a gauge may be what you're after. Pm MalibuJack about his digitial gauge display set up.

Gauges are mainly used for 2 things, first to let you know that everything with your expensive motor is ok ie... if your oil pres drops, you should pull over and stop before serious damge occurs or if the egt changes drastically somethings not running right. Second they are used for tunning, to see how well your engine is running, if its using its full potential.

To me, these are the most important gauges:

Boost, EGT, Water temp, oil pressure.

If you are modded, that is the order. I haven't heard enough posts in here about water temp. VERY important when doing track days. Warped head due to overheating sucks.

My current gauges are EGT (important), Wideband A/F (important), and Boost (not so important). I still would like to add a Oil Pressure gauge. I only boost 9.5psi on my truck, but for you all boosting much higher, I would say EGT, WB A/F, and Oil Press would be a must. I checked out the Zeitronix when I was searching for a WB A/F gauge. It looks to be a nice product that allows you to monitor more than just A/F on the display. I currently have an Innovate Motorsports LM-1 WB A/F meter that lets me datalog all the information. They finally have a didgital display gauge that I will be purchasing soon. PLX is another brand that that seems to be pretty good. Good prices for either can be found here http://www.urdusa.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PERF
Don't let all the Toyota stuff shy you away :) These guys sell these items at near cost. (and no, I am not affiliated with them. Just a VERY happy customer). Hope this helps.

the difference with the zeitronix is that it has alot more features available, not just air/fuel -its perfect for road tuning as well-
a lot of DSM guys run zeitronix and Scot G from RRE recommeds it as well (since he road tunes EMS all the time)
i have mine seating at home, which i need to install. i will post a review once i do.
