Those 64's realy need a 64 bit operating system and programs.

AMD FX53

you might not notice a difference in most apps because there arent many programs that use the 64 bit processing power. You did do a smart thing though, the AMD Athlon is spanking the Pentium 4 to the point where Intel is ditching the P4 design. The AMD FX53 is tops and fast as hell. I run an older AMD Athlon 2200+ running at 1.8 gig and I have had no problems

AMD is good shiznit :) I've always used AMD chips and not intel. Works the same for me I guess though I dont do any hardcore gaming or programming on the PC.

I perfer Intels chips better, I also had some bad luck with the AMD in the past. I perfer the reliability of the Intel chip, which does not run as hot as the AMDs does. Of course that the hotter it runs the faster the processes, but it's heat that most geeks out there would be worried about out there.

I think that Intel is calling it quites on the 64-bit processing is that there aren't many 64 bit processing software or application to use it. I think it would be a waste to buy processor with that feature which your system does not use.

Do you think that Doom3 and Half-Life2 games uses 64-bit processing? I seriously don't know, but I doubt that. Unless it has that option to turn on 64-bit processing. Of course that would be great to have.

nope from what i heard HL2 and Doom3 are cool to run on the current 32bit chips ..i think minimum is 1.5 and 384mb for doom3

Now that I've read the benchmarks for Doom 3, the AMD 64 is clearly the cpu of choice for this game. Hopefully it will be just as fast compared to Intels when HL2 comes out.

jan what does it mean when i set it to ultra it says it needs 500mb of "texture memory"? is that ram or HDD space?

JanSolo

I suppose it would be ram, depending on where it is storing the textures. I think that falls into either system memory or graphics card ram. :) So my answer is "I don't know".

Texture memory is the amount of memory onboard on the video card itself. 500mb is how much space is needed on the hard drive to store and run the game

I think using GART (one of the many features of AGP), you can store textures in both system ram and ram on the card itself.

Here is a simple diagram that explains it all. Thank you, Intel.

I wonder when is the PCI Express is going come out?
Hummm,...
Suppose to be better then the AGP ports. Or some how a replacements of the AGPs.
