With so much debate about whos dyno reads high and whos reads low, the drag strip is an unarguable benchmark that unlike dynos isn't easily manipulated.

This list is created and maintained with the intent of displaying real quantifiable power gains and recognizing the driver skill required to utilize that power.

For those who wish to be listed on this thread please follow the format below.

Screen Name - Tuner / Shop - Evo Generation - Engine/Turbo Setup -ET/MPH - Track

I encourage anyone with a mid 12 sec timeslip and under to participate as without your participation this list goes nowhere. As the list develops the top 5 will be asked to verify their times with a scanned timeslip. List will be updated at the end of the day.

Timeslips in bold mark that it has been verified. Verified timeslips will be given priority.

Thanks!

most likely too much wheelspin / traction issues, back in the day my Hatchback w/ 350 DJ power would trap 124 on street tires running a 12.6, but on slicks I would run an 11.8-11.9 @ 117-118 mph.

Personally I dont think the same person should be able to be on there more then once. If i really wanted to I could drop 10k into my car, have 10 different set ups, and take 10 different spots

91 octacne stock turbo
91 octacne stock turbo w/ cams
91 octane with meth
91 octane with meth w/ cams
95 octane with octane booster
95 octane with octane booster w/ cams
95 octane with octane booster and meth
95 octane with octane booster and meth w/ cams
100 octane
100 octane w/ cams
100 octane with meth
100 octane with meth w/ cams
etc
etc
etc

same person, same car, it should only show a persons best time.

Lurk

Exactly. Just pick your fastest time, post it up and leave it at that. Why are the same two people taking up like 8 or 10 spots.

It is bolded to show the time has been verified by scanning the timeslip.

Because initially there wasn't much participation to get the list filled I thought it was best to group everyone together.

But there should be a breakdown between stockish turbo, big turbo upgrade, and pump gas, but there would be like 4 guys or whatever in each list that would kinda suck... Right?

then dont do the breakdown, it says the quickest/fastest. I just dont see a point is showing more then one time per person. If you use to get 12 sec 1/4 miles now getting 11's, you wouldnt tell people your car does 12's. Its peoples personal best.

btw sorry Andy, didnt notice it was by time slips, kind of scanned over it and the names that kept poping up just seemed to be similar

Ran at 12.6@108 yesterday at sac with a shitty launch. I think the car is good for 12.2-12.3s if I could get off the line. Wish I had raised my tire pressure even more, because afterwards I did a test launch on the street and shot off the line like a bat out of hell

I was also trapping at 109+, but I think sac has fixed the right/left lane differences. I was at 107-109 in both lanes

Jerome (wwevo9) was running with me most of the day, he was getting off the line much better, so he has a couple 12.5 slips, but I was trapping a few mph higher. He has a bit more torque as well, so that could explain some things too :P

1SloEvo
07-08-2007, 11:23 AM
I had a 12.8 @ 108. Only a 1.97 60' with a slipping clutch. Car has the potential for low 12s, possibly even high 11s with a good launch and a good strong clutch. My tire pressure was a little too high. The one run the clutch grabbed most ended in a 2.2 60' from spinning the tires. I'll get it eventually though :)

UCB
07-08-2007, 11:29 AM
I think I was the opposite, the clutch was fine, I was just bogging like a mother..the tires would chirp then the nose would dive when I bogged. But yeah, on the street took off like a mother lover. Next time I'll play with my tire pressure and 2-step some, it was basically an open run day so we were just making laps :P

For whatever reason, only half my slips have a 60ft time, none below 2.0s :x

This was my first time dragging a car..ever..so I was ok with my time

What is your launch limiter set at?

UCB
07-08-2007, 09:34 PM
2-step was at 5500, yeah the fastest 60ft time I had was 2.0, but I was only hitting 12.6X. Jerome did the 12.5, but he was getting off the line a tad better than me (me thinks his tires were less grippy so he didnt bog as much)

Things go better when I raised my tire pressure a tad, but I think I needed to go higher (like 38psi+). Really dont think I needed to go higher for the 2-ste[, because I launched just fine on the street

It was pretty hot, my fastest run was actually when it was still hot out (RIGHT after I went from 32 to 36psi on my tires), then as it cooled im guessing my tire pressure went down again because I was starting to bog hard

We have a video of me vs a e46 m3 on my last run, I bogged like a bitch so he had a good lead, then I came charging by like whoa :P

ST
07-08-2007, 09:39 PM

Well, you dont' really need "more 2 step" to drop the 60ft, it just a matter of practice in timing and modulation of throttle and clutch padal.
I used to drag race my last AWD car, which did not have any sort of launch control. I manage to cut 1.70s all day long. I haven't dragged my 9 yet due to its fragile drivetain components. But I would like to come out one of these days to check if my trap speed lives up to my dyno #.

Alot of people have blown up the 03-04 TC's. The 05+ with LSD are much stouter and take much more abuse.

However if you do side-step launches things can break.

Tach up then side step / slip the clutch so you can spoool up more for launch. Old trick for manual cars w/o 2 steps.

I have a question...does the clutch pedal have to be smashed to the floor in order for the 2 step to work? And does the car have to be in gear? I ask because my rommie asked about it the other day since I did it at the drag strip (on accident I guess) and when I went to do it, the car revved right past the limiter. Just curious.

earlyapex aka jack ass

You can't be moving and the clutch has to be to the floor. There is a switch by the end of the pedal arm that gets engaged.

I think I might have been creeping a little, but I'm pretty sure I had the pedal to the floor. The creep is probably what caused it. I was probably only moving like 2mph, but that's probably enough.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the rent driver part. Unless it's an all out track car, you should just continue to try to improve yourself. Knowing what you can run stock versus what you can run with you mods shows how much the car has improved. Once you get to a stopping point with power where you can track it a good bit without any changes, then you can see how much you can improve your personal driving skills...which is more important to me than having someone else drive it. I'd rather see myself run 12.1 than someone else run 11s, just because once I hit 11s, I know what I've accomplished with myself and with the car.

i agree...renting a driver is silly for a street car. And lets me real, with the 2-step launch control....its not THAT hard to go fast in a straight line with the evo, esp when you have 300whp+ on tap

But right now I'm getting more wheel hop than I would like to have off the line. I don't want to break anything. I want to ditch these progressive rate springs for regular linear rate ones. And as long as I'm swapping suspenstion again I'm just gonna save up for coilovers.

Andy,

Since it's starting to seem like the guys from our shop with fast cars are just **AHEM** not-so-good drivers, would you possibly be able to seperate a list between the quickest and the fastest like on EVOM? This way we can see which cars are actually faster, and which drivers are better. On the list, there's someone with a REALLY high trap speed (no offense to him), and I think he'd be on the top of the list, which would put Phet back down to second (sorry Phet, but you need to get back to the track with your slow ass shifting hahaha). I believe Pat is headed back to the track, is anyone else going?
