All my friends are going to this event. I would love to go, but I don't think I will have a capable vehicle by that date.

It's fwd with H rated tires. It just BEGS to slide around.

Hey Jan are you planning on going to this? Do they allow spectators?

JanSolo

I do plan on being there since my friends are going. Apparently, it does allow for spectators, so I will be snapping pics and video taping my friends driving.

I went. It was cool. After driving with my friends on the track, I've figured how badly I need some driving instruction.

I met another Evo driver from SoCal. He was driving in the beginner grip course.

Driving on the track was insane. The guys in the E46 M3s and the FD RX7s were AMAZING. The RX7's especially. I need to get me one of those cars as a track car.

Well the Evo is such a great looking car, but it costs a decent amount of cash.. I would rather just buy a cheap used car and use it for the track. That way, if anything goes wrong like wreck or whatever, no worries.

Damn. Well, if you ever need any spare cash, I would love to rent your Evo for a track day. :) I promise to return it one piece.. mostly.

I don't think an E46 M3 really fits that bill. :P

I actually meant the FD, but I doubt that is cheap either.

So, Tam, want to give me a loan that I don't have to pay back?

any FR car will be a good track car for me. I am actually looking for a s13 or FC for track events. if u have any leads, please give me a holler! :P h

There were a couple of FCs running the track but the FDs were doing better. It really comes to driver in the end of course, but the FDs were taking corners better, shot down the straights faster, etc. I have a friend selling his 1990 240sx. I was going to buy it but I don't have the cash to do it right now.

Ok here is one video from the track event. Nothing special really.

BTW, it's okay to tell me that the video sucks. I promise not to cry (much).

That was me rolling by in the 240sx. We took that turn at 104mph! There was a white Evo in the beginner grip and he said that he took it around 80 something. The 240sx was completely stock so you can see, no matter how much you build up your Evo, it always comes down to the driver.

That is the biggest reason why I am going to hold out on modding my Evo.

haha nice vids!!

However, my friends at NCDA told me that there was this fwd lancer trying to drift but keeps on hitting the rev limiter on the track. Instructors gave him some pointers but he seems to forgot them all and started doing his own things again when he was on the track.. eventually he burnt up his clutch and the car had to be towed.. wonder which guy they are talkin' about..

Well there was a black Evo (the guy who runs Team Slam) who showed up with these obnoxious rally looking lights on the front of his car. When I talked to him, he told me he was leaking oil and that he might have blown his clutch.

evo_dadi

he has a turbo'ed lancer and i think got an evo wing with it. so i guess he's not gonna make it on the 24th.

That was just a Lancer? LOL! I was fooled! HahaHah.. damn I'm a sucker.

Stew was the guy according to the staff at NCDA..

Hi Jan,

Great video, looks like you had a lot of fun at thunderhill. How do you like the track? How was your track time? T1 is a very fast corner, but T2 is a bit tough to get good exit speed. Then you've to immedately setup for T3 (sharp right hander). T9 also looks easy but someone flip a s2k on T9 back in Nov. Overall T-hill is a nice place to drive fast without worrying about track walls.

I was a mere passenger since I was just checking out the track. My friend did turn 1 at 104mph generally in his stock 240sx. I think Thunderhill has too many straights, so it might favor high power cars over driver ability at times.

I have not been to any other tracks, so I have no other frame of reference, but it seems okay. I just wish it wasn't so cold when we went there! We were all freezing our asses off.
