Here are a few pics a of friends riding buddies of mine on a sunday ride about two weeks ago, it was in the paper some may know about it. Perfect example of why not to drive fast on the street, it really is too unsafe of an enviornment to push yourself.

There were four of them riding together comming into a blind turn and the corner got shaper on exit, three of my friends went into oncomming traffic. The first was on the blue cbr1000rr second on the silver R1 and the third on a gsxr1k.

The 1000rr went head on with a BMW X5 at around 40mph, I posted pics of his bike I decided not to post the pics of him only his bike. Its a little too much. The second to go down was the R1, I posted pics of his leg and his bike. Both were airlifted out. The third was the GSXR1000 he was able to walk away but totaling his bike.

All are very lucky to be alive.

Hopefully some of you will think twice on those back roads and caynon runs you could be the bike or the car.... never know.

Yeah I have been there and done that... Whats even worse then crashing and getting busted up is when you cause one of your best friends to crash and put him in the icu unconscious with brain bleeding and thinking that you might have just killed him.<--been there also, not something I wish on even my worst enemies. What road was that on by the way?

Damn I think those Liquid Silver R1's are cursed. My friend T. and his brother in law both totalled theirs.

Hope your buddies make a speedy recovery.

My neighbor smashed his R1 up the 1st day. When he called his insurance agent he said virtually all R1 owners crash at some point, usually in the first week.

Good luck to your friends.

Been on 9, skyline, pescadero, etc. On 600rr's, 954rrs, rc51s, etc. I've also been at all the tracks in cali with the same bikes and typically do 2:02 pace at thill. While i do encourage folks to always take it to the track, i've also witness as grueling iincidents there including my friends who have broken legs, fractured vertebraes, concussions, etc. The key to riding on the street or track is knowing your limits and always leaving a windows of buffer for any incidents that happen. Things will always happen (me lowsiding on t3 at thill on a dry day for pt no pot apparent reason) regardless of what you do. Just be prepared...

the guy who hit the X5 on the 1000rr shattered pelvice, broke both arms compound fracture to one, both legs compound fracture to one. We visited him in the hospital, look straight out of a movie. Damn near full body cast with a halo around his hips

Man, that is brutal. I really hope they make it out alright. Just another thing I'm going to be seeing when I get out of school and into residency. Guys, Please be safe. Don't want to have to be seeing any more of you than I have to :?

Sorry to hear about your friends, but it really does not sound so much the fault of pushing it, but being 100% foolish and pushing it on an unknown road

All three could have still be untouched right now.
