View Full Version : I am getting a new Evo!

I got a call from the body shop today on the way to work. They told me I had done 24k$ worth of damage to my Evo - and they had not even checked out the engine or transmission yet. So the body shop guy had already talked to the insurance rep and they decided to total it.

I am expecting a pay off in the next few days, but I am going to try tonight to get a new black Evo.

So it looks like I *will* have an Evo for the drive.

woot!! That's great news. Even if it's fixed... it just won't drive the same as it was. :D

Woohoo! Just try to run up 1000 miles by the 24th.

Those daisy rims will go nicely with tarmac black, too. :-P

I am going to see how much they are willing to sell it to me for. What ever they sell it to me for comes out of the settlement they give me. Funny thing is that I just had the snorkle and airbox replaced not too long ago under warranty.

The first part should not be a problem. The rims tho.. I will have to check into those. I was actually looking into the teddy bear rims I saw on CarDomain. Those would probably add at least 10hp to the car.

this give me an idea, im gonna join up with Mickey Deez, and then design a rim with an "M" center cap, and have a 5-6-7 and 8 jump fry spokes...

who's down to buy a set?

I got it tonight. My black Evo is in my hands right now. I got the entire thing for invoice, out the door - not just the car, but the wing and moonroof. Now, to slowly break the car in and mellow out for a while. I promised my wife no speeding, no crazy driving, etc. We'll see how long I can keep my end of the promise (she promised crazier sex if I kept my end up).

Any news on whether or not you can buy the totaled car back from the insurance company?

I am kinda in need of a stock rim or two (I scratched one of mine up kinda badly tonight :( ).

If not that's cool, but if you have it hit me back :)

Well it was either I get a new Evo or I become a back seat driver in one of your cars. And my wife has taught me to nag and bitch about driving fast like a seasoned PRO (I tend to learn by example). Rather than make any of you suffer like I have, I bought the car.

No need to thank me. I already realize how generous I am and already feel really good about it. ;)

My last Evo was a used Evo (it had 1000 miles on it). So, my question is, how do cope with the break in period? Any how many miles is the break in period anyhow?

vtluu
01-10-2004, 03:33 AM
1000 miles, which I covered in about 10 days by doing a scenic drive down Hwy 1, a few trips back and forth to the dealership (Hayward)--and taking the long way back (880N, over the Bay Bridge, and back via 280); a trip or two to ModACar... anyway you get the idea. :)

The manual lays out the timeline for break-in of each major aspect of the car. The big one--engine--only requires 600 miles.

Ah, good, because by the time I got to 800-900 miles I was really starting to rev it up.

Jan,

don't forget about the dino-oil.

Thanks for reminding me! I am going to do that today, along with reinstalling my old P2 flased ECU, exhaust etc.

just a quick question. no disrespect intended. How the hell did you cause a $24K in damages? at least your alright though.

EvolvedDSM
01-10-2004, 03:38 PM
It adds up quick once the labor is factored in. Not only do the have to put the pieces on, but they have to remove and/or repair those already present.

JanSolo
01-10-2004, 08:20 PM
Actually it was 39k in damages. They decided to throw in the engine and transmission in there as well since it could theoretically be jacked too. There are a lot of parts listed and lots for labor. If you go to the 24 meet or any earlier meets, I will show you guys my estimate. It is hillarious especially with charges for things like 10$ worth of coolant, etc.

howiEVO8
01-10-2004, 09:07 PM
lolz...that's like 9000 life time supplies of coolant...
