CHP has really stepped up speed enforcement since the completion of the commuter lanes.

I got pulled over the other day, for passing a slow vehicle just "a bit" too quickly. Luckily he was cool about it and let me go, ignoring i had no plates, no registration, no smog, no current insurance info, etc. :X

btw> Quote of the month here: when initially the officer approached me after the stop, he asked:

"so what kind of car is this?"

Made me feel good and sad at the same time :(

I use 87 off-hours quite a bit since it takes me to and from my workshop. The annoying thing about 87 is that a lot of it has a 55mph speed limit. Part of the reason for it is that the quality of the road surface is crap. Instead of fixing it, they just lower the speed limit. The construction work is "wrapping up" but obviously didn't include fixing the speed bumps and potholes that litter the road.

The dumbest thing about 87--dumber even than the lack of an 87-to-880 interchange--is the single-lane interchange between 101 and 87. Apparently the geniuses at CalTrans didn't anticipate that 101, which brings traffic from oh, most of the bay area, and 87, which is the main road leading to SJC airport, might be just a little bit busy. As a result, 101S backs up all the way up to Great America Parkway on most weekday afternoons. To go from my work (Google in Mountain View) to the store on Friday afternoons, I take 101S, get off at Bowers, go on Central to bypass the traffic jam, get back on 101 at Trimble. It's ricockulous. :pissed:

^^ haha brings back memories, i used to drive to automall off of 87 and man i did not look foward to going that way, but the worst was that 1 lane innerchange. they spend all this money, and no improvment, and it takes almost a year to fix the road, when its still only a 2 to 1 lane innerchange....mannn caltrans needs some new supervisors.
