saw a lot of evo's out there yesterday,

how did you all do?

My best was a 50.665, almost good enough to win ESP until John lawerence (driving a '96 camaro 1-le) ran a 50.568 on his last run :(

Nice! I was running ST-ESP and managed a decent 53.780, about .4 seconds off Joe Master's time (also running ST-ESP). I'm sure I could have found another second though, because on my fastest run I was very sloppy on the last 1/3, going far too deep into a couple of turns and having to slow down to make them. In fact, after crossing the finish I was so busy cursing myself for screwing up my run that when I heard my time, I was so surprised I almost ran straight into the 90-degree left after the finish. So I must have picked up a huge amount of time in the first 2/3 of the course; too bad I couldn't quite put it all together in one run. (Which is my main problem these days: I can drive pretty well on any given section of the course, just not all the sections on the same run.)

Congrats to chrisw and Adrian (kakimoto_evo) on excellent performances in SM and ESP! I'm reasonably happy with how I did--2nd fastest raw time in Street Tire class (but 7th out of 17 after indexing :?). Would have been fast enough to win in my old class (AS-N) but I'm not running Novice anymore, and anyway with the wing off my car wouldn't have been legal in Stock class.

My Kuhmos 255/40 17 are still on back order. So I was still running SO3's in SM! Big disadvantage.

I called tirerack the other day and they said they are not sure when the Kuhmo's are coming in... so now, I am thinking if I should settle with 245/40 17. It's hard to say how much difference 10mm will make. Or I could get PZero Corsa's in 255/40 17.

If I get 245's, both Hoosier A3S04 and Kuhmo V700 come in that size. There is also the new Dunlop SP Super Sport Race. Hoosier for sure is the best here, but pretty expensive.

What do you guys think? :(

Andy McKee (SM2 black/purple RX7) has a set of used (but still "lots of tread") 275/40-17 Victoracers for sale for $200 (for the set).

chrisw can show you how to roll your fenders. ;)

The 245/40-17 will be closer to the stock gearing. anything larger than a 255 will require coilovers, spacers and fender rolling, and the correct rim offset .

I am not sure if the 275/40/17 could fit with the stock suspension.
