So how about one? Let's get rid of this magical veil on nce as this stuff is openly discussed everywhere else. Maybe put it under tech talk?

I agree, we have alot of vendors out here with enough knowledge to teach us. While I started reading EvoM's ecu section it got me confused on some things. perhaps we can do a little better and get a newbies guide up and running that answers the majority of the questions out there.

I would be more than happy to contribute to this if the sub-forum is created.

bump, any moderator want to make this "ECU Mod" a sub-forum? I would definetly like to have this information on this site as well. I can contribute a little bit too.

it would have to be called tuning talk or something, i think it's better suited under power mods as a subforum and i'd have to move all those dynographs from tunes...

does that make organizational sense?

earlyapex aka jack ass

Why would you need to move dynographs for a ECU Mod sub-forum?

trinydex

well a tuning forum. doesn't make sense?

I think they are asking for a ECU 'mod' forum. aka how to use all the mods that are out now to extend the capabilities of the stock ecu.

Like target boost control, NLTS, valet, Lean-spool, etc

trinydex

yeah and that would all fall into a tuning forum. it can't be so narrow scoped that there's no threads in it :P

joshesh

there is no need to bring the dyno charts into it, those are not for hobbiests - we were just talking about home tinkering kinda stuff. Right guys?

trinydex

well let me know what you guys really want. i'll make it happen.

This is exactly what we want. A place to ask for help and discuss data logging, tunning, patches, ect.

trinydex

so that's like a tuning forum right. eventually logs will show up there and what's wrong with my timing etc

so will people start sharing dyno numbers and graphs in such a forum?

joshesh
10-31-2007, 07:02 AM
not real dyno graphs, but the virtual ones that DLL lets you view. excel logs and graphs of your datalogs, things like that should be in there too.

Bump for this forum to be created, I think there has been enough interest expressed in this to create a new sub forum under Tech Talk and call it "ECU Mods" or something like that.

Triny, weren't you going to start one of these up for us?

ECU mod forum (or is a sticky that could be updated regulary more appropriate) would be nice. Like mentioned earlier things like latest patches ( lean spool and CEL mods). Target boost/ ECU JDM MAP sensor upgrade info among others previously mentioned that would be nice to include. Don't think the dyno postings would be posted here. More like a ECU advanced technical heading. Could be a great resource.

wel i was going to wait for a more definitive conclusion on what would be included or excluded from that forum.

it'd have to be ecu mods and tuning help or something like that...

^^ so go with that and run with it? otherwise it's just another idea in limbo..

Sounds good to me, just make the forum and we'll start filling it with helpful threads.

the thing is i don't want to make anything and then change it. it takes forever just to get dino's attention. then he'll tell me he'll do it that day for about a month before he actually does it.

this month i've been trying to get the same image attaching capabilities in threads that socal has. but alas... it's been two weeks already and he hasn't done it.

imagine if i got him to make a forum then i had to tell him to change the title... it'd be like 2 months. it's really not my fault that i want to be careful and frankly... since i started pushing things more has happened in the last 5 months than the last 5 years. just wait a lil longer... make sure what we want is what we want content wise.

forum is being created now. dino says it's gonna be called advanced tuning like it is in socal...

also check the classified's forum for a new look.
