This is definately going to be my next purchase as recommended by alot of you here (thanks by the way).

But now I need to know which is best. I've heard that the Nvidia is prone or MORE likely to crack?

The front runner right now is this one from STI Killer.

GSC Stainless Steel 2000 Degree Coated O2 Housing

The GSC stainless steel o2 housing is constructed using all TIG welds and is a direct replacement for your stock unit. In addition to the impressive large construction you will find that that the O2 housing has been 2000 Degree Heat Coated to help keep under hood temps down.

This is a great upgrade from the stock unit as it has been seen to increase HP by 10-15 at the wheels. We also suggest adding a Forge Adjustable Actuator at the same time as you install this O2 housing. both pieces work very well together to help keep boost held in the upper RPM bands

Anyone know any better ones?

Is the titek a direct replacement?

I was looking at the Titek, but there was a thread on EvoM saying that Titek rebadged eBay 02 housings and sold them as their own.

How has your Titek been? What kind of gains are to be had?

i dont know about that since most of them looks similar, but its all up to you. Â*as far as gain i notice a quicker spool, and boost seems to hold up better

Save the money and just go with the Ebay one. You should see almost the exact same gains from any aftermarket O2 housing...and though the Ebay version is cheap, it's actually built pretty good. I had one on my car for about 2k and it worked fine. I bought it used and I believe the guy before me had it on his car for about 7 or 8k miles. I'm going back to that style as soon as I get back home to install it.

Many of the aftermarket O2 housings look like the E bay....ALOT like it. I have had the E bay O2 housing on my car ( ceramic coated) It cost me around a hundred bucks with the coating and it has lasted me for approx 20,000 miles. I can't give you numbers as far as power gains go, but I have no complaints. Some of those other housings cost a lot more and IMHO, are not worth the extra cash.

Really?! I always thought people said to stay away from cheapie engine components?

Well, if people owned them, and can attest that they work, then I guess why not?

Be careful with ebay 02 housings now. It's really hard to make sure you get a decent one now. Before a couple places had the good ones and you knew where to order it from. Now it's more hit or miss I have heard.

I have seen some craptastic ebay 02's with really bad wastegate merge openings, etc.

If you do find some good ones, then they are great for the money.

Other than Ebay, I would go with Megan. If Ebay one's are getting more on a hit or miss type deal, the MR one is pretty much the same and they are pretty cheap. Or go to ttp-engineering.com They either have a MR one or one that they make. I think it's like $100 bucks and they are a very reputable company!!

Hey Bryan, GST website shows 02 housings, bodykits and other things for sale.

Are those stocked at a place I could just go see? Or is it some distant warehouse that has to be bought before I can eyeball it?

I've installed titek and ebay o2 housings, not much difference if you get the right ebay one. Well, your wallet will be lighter, so you'll probably benefit from the weight reduction.

ebay 02 housing will eventually crack at some point in time.

Titek o2 housing is a well made piece that will save you a lot of trouble down the road, especially, down time, labor, money factor, etc.

imo tomei o2 housing downpipe combo, yeah its pricey but worth the money, biggest thing is to trial and error, I use to run authority o2 housing from lancershop and a apexi dp and was happy till i picked up the tomei and was really impressed. i seem to realize about the evo that not all evo will react the same with the same mods as someone elses evo. it has its own personality. you just have to find what it likes. mess with different combo's. i have tomei o2 and dp combo helix hfc and tomei and will be switching it out from my 03 evo to my 06 evo se. so i'll see if that will be a good mix. ive been through mods here and there. then find out how far you want to push your tune. for myself i love playing in the danger area but that's me i know that i don't drive my car like i stole it every second im in it so my aggressive tune fits me hey what can i say for a 03 evo pushing 317 hp close to 25 psi on 91 with over 75000miles on stock turbo its still running strong. but hey its all about you and your evo

what nightwalker said is right...i've seen a lot of guys with the ebay ones and they all seem happy wit it cuz it is cheaper and i've seen guys put over thirty plus thousand on theirs.

okay, so I've read about the O2 housings for days...

I have a 2.75" downpipe, so the TOMEI O2 would fit... where's a good place to get it?

would others work with the smaller downpipe? DME, Titek, invidia? any other options fit??

thanks

and uses OEM mount point for O2.

so basically, you have to find one (for a reasonable price) that also fits your downpipe properly, or ya have to get another dp & o2 housing that's already matched? Mabey it's better to stick to the same brand as yer whole exhaust. I personally don't like "ghetto fittment".

I thought about picking up one of these but decided to wait til' I get a hold of the test pipe/lower intercooler pipe & o2 housing together for a combined increase which sounds more "worth the cash & install". You want to improve airflow, might as well fully do it.

redevil9mr
01-07-2008, 10:05 PM
I just want to wait to get my ported manifold, o2 housing, FP Green Turbo for install at the same time to extract the optimum amount of whp as possible. Those parts will go well together.

I don't think I speak for the majority of the forum but Megan is aight.

I have a Megan catback and I'd have to say I like the quality and sound as it's pretty loud outside but pretty quiet inside the cabin. I also got a pretty Megan O2 housing sitting on my floor waiting to be put on if I ever upgrade some part that it connects to which I won't mention.
