Unknown ROM Image...any tuners out there!??!

ok so i had a friend of mine flash my evo with one of the EIP maps and it is great! makes me
wanna get a custome tune even more!!! thanks PAUL!
now my friend has my stockROM on his laptop so i asked him to email it to me...when i got the email
and saved it, i tried to open it with ECUflash and it's giving me this message of "UNKNOWN ROM IMAGE".
i saved it with ".hex" at the end...i downloaded the latest version of ECUflash which is 1.34
ok on the error message i have three options...i chose all of them and they always send me to the
another window asking me if the UNKNOWN ROM was either...
-Defined from Scratch
-Copied from the definition below
-Inherited from the defintion below

I also have another problem with the other MAPS...i am able to open them no problem BUT,
i am only able to view the rom definition/info...but not the VARIABLES (octane map, ignition, etc...)

perhaps it was saved incorrectly or the file became corrupt when it was sent to you. have your friend try re sending it to you.

ok tell me if i'm saving it right, whatever the filename i choose for it...i add ".hex" at the end right???

and the 1.29 version, i can't find it anywhere

If you just needed a stock ROM, I'm pretty sure you can download the stock maps off openecu.org

edit: nm. I couldn't find it myself. haha.

was that the same version you use when tunning the EVOS?
