Choking on water?

While driving down the 101 in Tuesdays' driving rain, btw the first time it's been in ANY rain, my Evo started choking. I'm guessing on water, as I could have put a bit more distance between me and the Galant in front. The car almost stalled out, but since I was doing 60, happily that didn't occur. I immediately called Kevin at Concord, since that's where I was headed. He agreed on the choking but from where? Intake, intercooler or throttle body was his answer. Checked out A-OK on everything, though. My theory lies with the location of the intake, and the thin rubber gasket skirting the hood, which I think is the culprit. Any ideas? BTW, stock intake, intercooler, and WORKS throttle body.
