My company used to be located further down the street from this place off of Jennings. That is until we moved to SD. :(

That being said SF>SD

Can't wait to find a better job once my contract is up. Thanks for the pics and for making me home sick Steve. :D

Yeah I know what you mean once you load them up the quality is so down-graded.
Is there another site that the pics come out a little better or are most sites like that.

My "eye for the lens" needs some work for sure. I took about 400-450 pics yesterday and what I posted is pretty much the only decent stuff that came out. My camera and lens could use a tune up as well..

Anyone have any suggestions on where I can send my camera (rebel xt) to have the sensor cleaned?

I would call Canon service and send it there. I sent my zoom lens there and they did a great job.

In comparison, I brought my S5 in to Best Buy for service, and it came back with fingerprints all over the lens. Yeah, they fixed the main problem (LCD not turning on), but coming back with prints on the lens is totally unacceptable.

How do ya figure? The girls down in SD are like 1000x better looking, no contest...

BTW: A friend mentioned to me the other day that fish-eye lenses are like $600. Is that true?!? I knew lenses are pricey but damm...

The culture man, the vibe.Â* SD is technically has a larger population, but SF just has that bigger city feel to it.Â* SF has a little bit of everything.Â* I have tried the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, Balboa Park, Otay Ranch.... they are nice just they just feel like they are on a smaller scale compared to SF.

Girls are the last thing on my mind right now, the last thing I need is a money pit bugging me to go dancing and buying expensive dinners.Â* I just want to get my bonus and pay from my contract this year and move back up North.Â* But you never know, I might take a liking to SD and stay here.Â* I am very open minded and am giving the city a shot.Â* But the way it sits right now, my open mind is telling me SF>SD.

Honestly I cant stand SF. Its a ton of fun to visit every once in a while but about twice a year is plenty for me. I cant see how anyone in their right mind would willingly live there.

Who cares. Great photos aren't always about the perfect techniques but the emotion.

My friend Adam got one of me taking that pic from about 50yards away that I really like as far as the emotion thing goes.. Ill see if I can get it from him and post it.. Its really quite neat.

Were you using a tripod steevo8?? Pics look nice man!

steevo8
01-14-2008, 12:14 AM
no tripod on the stuff in the city, I was using a cheap ass little tripod for the stuff of the bridge though. It was insanely windy so it screwed with all my timed exposures so I think after I pic up a decent lens Im giong to get a better heavier tripod.

Good stuff! You got some real nice shots there 8) I like the one Bryan picked out too. The SFPD Deep Shaft made me crack up

Thanks Dave I really appreciate it. I feel like for what I have to work with, that my shots are coming along real well. I have been reading up on stuf and scrolling through tons of mags etc trying to get my basics down that way when I drop a bunch of money on a shiny new camera I will be a little more justified in doing so..

As for the pic that Bryan like, my friend was with me and shooting with his new 20d and he got a real cool shot of me taking that pic, that I really like. Ill have to get it from him here pretty soon.

lol yeah the shaft made me laugh as well.. Thats actually right out front of FIA.

I don't know how much experience you have but if you're new you're coming along real fast! Taking as many pictures as possible and bringing your camera everywhere is fun and it helps you out too. Looks like you have a natural eye.

My experience consists of, zero professional training or classes and about two maybe three months of shooting on my own. All my shots are with a regular old canon XT with a kit lens and a cheap ebay fisheye adaptor. This is my first slr camera and even though I have a ton to learn I think Im approaching a spot where my lens(and even my camera to a point) are holding me back a little bit.

Even though all my friends give me non stop shit about it, Im having A LOT of fun with this new hobby, and its absolutely perfect for the winter time for me cause I really dont have many cheap hobbies I can do this time a year.
