Again. Quick 15min post-processing job. All the pictures came out very good to my standards. The lighting was still causing me trouble but I'm thinking of new ideas to combat the lighting problem. So until next time...

Awesome shots! What lens are you using? I'm guessing you used a small tripod? The Canon shots always have a warm look. Wilson's right about the D3. It was built to kick some serious arse in low light conditions & it has a maximum ISO of 25,600

Dan used a Tripod for his night shots.
Current gen of Canons really have less noise under low noise vs the previous Nikons.
But ya, the new Nikons , D3, D300 are just awesome in low lights., won't be surprise if the new Nikons coming out soon may share some of it's capabilities.

Canon isn't sitting still either, i bet the next new camera from the Canon camp will be another winner.

I think I want to start saving for the D300 body since it's much more in reach for me than the D3.

Dont want to hijack Dan's thread, but you should see some of the reviews coming in on the D300, and soon on the D3. We should get together one day and you can play with my D3.

I don't mind the thread hijacking. If it's related to photography and cars, it's all good :)

That is correct. I used a tripod for my night shots. I can indulge more if that would help you.

Here's what I used:
1) Tripod
- Very essentially for taking night shots. Tripod > handheld :)
2) Shutter cable release cord
- This was used to help reduce shakiness. Pressing the shutter button induce shakiness. If you don't have one, a self-timer would work fine.
3) Polarizer
- To reduce as much unwanted reflection as possible.

For camera settings, here's what I used:
1) File type: RAW
- I like to do post-processing. This gives me greater control if I need to change anything such as white-balance, exposure, etc.
2) Picture mode: AV
- I used this for the majority of my shots. I can explain why but that would take a while. So I'll save it for another time :)
3) Aperture: Minimum of f/8.0
- I found that f/8.0 is around the sweet spot for my lens. So I try to keep it around there if I can.
4) Custom Settings: "Mirror-Lockup"
- What this does is that when you first press the shutter button, it will lock the mirror up exposing the sensor. BUT! It will not take the picture. This will help with shakiness because when the shutter flips up, it will shake the camera a little. So having the mirror lockup before taking a picture will help reduce shakiness. So first button, mirror lockup. Wait a few seconds for everything to settle down, press shutter second time to take the picture.

If you need more info on why I chose my settings, ask me. I'm more than happy to explain them :)
