We had our friend come in today with his EVOX to see what his car would baseline on our Dyno Dynamics.Â* The car has approximately 900-1000 miles for break in.Â* As reported, this car has a lot of boost taper and a very rich AFR making it an ideal tuning candidate when the EVOX reflash becomes available.

Before our dyno session, the owner of the vehicle mixed in 4 gallons of 100 oct to 10 gallons of 91 oct to see how it would affect the EVOX.Â* Compared to his previous dyno tests on straight 91 oct. at a different dyno facillity, mixing in 100 oct smoothed out the powerband.

Overall my initial experience with the EVOX is that it is a much more refined car.Â* The engine is extremely smooth and whisper quiet.Â* The keyless entry system and keyless engine start are very nice.

If anyone else with an EVOX would like to test their car on our dyno, we are offering complimentary dyno runs for our first couple of customers.

Thanks!

Andy

I'm excited for parts to be available. I can't wait for them to start producing already!

It's gonna be cool when the tuners start extracting more power out of these things.

So when you gonna start tuning these beasts, Andy? I take back all the bad things I said about these cars...they seem cool...just don't find them as pretty as my dirty VIII.

Right on with what GST dyno was seeing. Any chance you have a stock IX plot you could overlay on this? Nice to see a direct comparison with the X.

Updated with EVO9 comparo.

I wish it was a 1 to 1 comparison with GST, but this one has 4 gallons of 100 oct. in the mix.

Do you even have to ask what color it is? I wonder who's car that is...

Oh yea the funny thing Andy didn't mention was... I told him the car liked dynoing with the Hood Closed (as GST noticed as well)... and when we did that the power jumped up a 3-4(?) more whp over all after 4000k when we saw the overlayed graphs.

Thanks.......100 oct in the tank am sure smoothed things out a bit. Hard to say if it made any better peak numbers. Same with the IX's, 100 only helped modded and tuned setups the most. Mitsu really hits the boost hard now early. Wicked taper. These cars are crying for flow mods and tuned afr's . Gonna be fun to watch them make the wake up transformation.

wrice,

The reason I put in the 100 oct to up the relative oct rating to 93 or so allowed the full powerband to be smooth... You'll notice in the GST dynos that in the same area past 5k rpms the HP dipped many times making it seem unstable which now can be conclusive to "knock" and "engine safe mode". The DD dyno at SE showed how smooth the engine was after 5k with the 93 oct rating.

Pretty sweet. Does it look like there's going to be flashing software for this or are they going to be coming out with piggybacks?

Abusing, no... Revitalizing, Yes!

Andy,

Looking at your Stock IX vs Evo X indicates the Turbo might be Larger due to the HP increasing slower than the IX. Anyway you can get an Overlay of Boost from the IX and X?

I saw your post when you did the 100 add in and you stated it made things seem smoother. The plots show that as well but your HP numbers didn't raise allot compared to GST's dyno. This is evident as well for untuned IX's. Smooths things out but doesn't really allow for HP increases unless you can run more timing and boost.

No free software like the ecuflash yet.

But we can probably add some sort of piggyback such as Apex'i S-AFC or some sort of the fuel map management.

I wasn't hoping for gains, I really would just like my car to be Happy when it Revs past 5k! 8) Nothing is better than a Happy Evo Engine :P

Andy just a clarification... I've read in the evom that the X has a smaller turbo compare to the IX? (smaller turbine but bigger hotside something like that)

I'm not sure of the exact details of it, but looking at the power of the tuned cars looks like they are comparable, with the ix being slightly bigger.
