Nebo came by today to get his new Evo 10 baselined.

Run 1: 225whp/252wtq
Run 2: 221whp/245wtq
Run 3: 222whp/248wtq

AFR 9.5:1 across much like Unowned's Evo 10 was

Had the same tugging up top, actually was a little worse than Unowned's. Feels like knock. One thing I observed is the throttle get's "sticky" when this happens. Shiv saw this as well on his evo 10. I'm thinking the electric throttle is stepping in a little there, much like the Mazdaspeed 3 does.

After the baselines I pulled the stock airfilter and did a run to see what would happen.

241whp/264wtq

18whp average gain peak / 16wtq average gain peak.

Even more impressive was there was about a 45whp gain at 6800rpm.

The impressive thing is that it only leaned out .3 afr on average, which is barely anything, gained about 2psi at 6000 (17psi instead of 15psi) about the same psi at peak torque. AFR's still below 10:1 afr. What I see from this is huge potential once we get tuning these things. Seeing what it gained from such a small amount of change in AFR is pretty impressive and shows potential.

I'm very excited about tuning the 10.

Hahha we obviously wouldn't drive around without an airfilter. The reason I did it is to see what it would pickup with a little more boost and a little leaner. ;)

About 241 whp and 264 wtq is what I would expect to see given the advertised specs of the X....Nice .....Man have the Feds messed with the cars that much? Sure is a different animal then the IX. Amazing what just a .3 AFR change made. Get this thing around 10.7 as it should be ought to be real interesting.

So the gas pedal feels the same as ABS kicking in on a brake pedal....lol...Surprised voice activated detonation knock detection doesn't come on saying, "Danger Will Robison!!

Nebo's car seems a tad stronger as he thought.

I don't know...I can buy that Works airfilter for the same price but it's actually visible..

How do you guys plan on doing engine tuning? from what i understand, this ecu is completely different than what is on the previous Evos.

Hmm, not bad!

Hmm, somebody needs to splice in a stand alone ecu to control fueling (and or spark). Anybody know which stand alone ecu's will accept the 36-3 wheel on the evo x?

How's the ECU cracking progress at Cobb?

Can you throw on an Apexi SAFC and lean it out? Or are they car/model specific?

hey bryan,
can you give us some reference numbers for stock evo 8 and 9s on your dyno?

itd be interesting to see the evolution (har har) of power in our cars.

thanks,

Sure,

Evo 9's dyno anywhere from 225whp/220wtq to 245whp/235wtq. The norm and average is about 235whp/230wtq
05 Evo 8's dyno from 215-225whp
03-04 Evo 8's dyno from 195-215whp

So far, from two Evo 10's on our dyno, they have higher torque, but lower hp (15-20whp less) than an average Evo 9.

When you look at the data, it makes sense, as the car runs so rich compared to a Evo 9, more than a full AFR point richer at some points!

However, if I had to make an educated guess from the data I am seeing, I think the Evo 10 will make more power tuned stock vs a Evo 9 tuned stock.

Here is an overlay of the first 10 we dynoed vs a slightly higher than average stock Evo 9: (Evo 9 are dotted lines)
