Can anyone answer?

What is the max boost the engine can take?

and

What is the max boost the turbo will put out?

It's been shown to take 26lbs w/o failure. The stock turbo could put that out for a brief time, but won't hold it and becomes horrible inefficient at that level. I wouldn't go past 22 PSI or so as long as you've got the fuel to support that airflow.

ok now, you guys are having too much fun at this. i am curious also as how much boost can the engine take and how much out stocker can put out also granted that fuel management is tuned with the boost increase also. but is upgrading the fuel pump to the walbro unit considered an upgrade or the stock is still fine?

an upgrade will do. i read it all over evom that a fuel pump upgrade is what of the best you should do. as for boost a safe boost is around 21-22.... unless you upgrade hella stuff then you can take it to another level.

Some guy in NY stated that he was running 28 pounds for a month and then lowered the boost to 23 pounds and the car felt faster. Stock turbo, stock engine. Don't know how legit his claim is, though.

i don't run any boost controller, but i am seeing a increase in the peak boost (possible boost spike) after the downpipe and the perin pipe. I am now getting 1.5 bar of peak boost... maybe, that blitz dual tt is not that accurate.

get a mech. boost and check it out again, ob4.

i prolly have one of the weak evos.
before P2 reflash, 1st-3rd, peak boost is not 19, but 17.5-18psi and dropped to 16psi

reflash fixed this issue tho.

Good Lord!! 28psi? I can just imagine the duty cycle on those 550cc injectors. "Error.. Error... danger manifold!!!" hahaha.

I'd say structurally, you cant really run more than 25 psi because you'll need new head studs. If you want to run more boost than that, you may need a thicker head gasket too. And as in any amount of boost, you have to run enough fuel to match the boost. Running to lean will kill the evo's engine even if you were running 10 psi.

unless you add ARP studs i wouldnt go pass 24psi , to be safe do to the octane rating that we have 22psi the most ....
