Turbo Trix just bought an X motor and ripped it apart with some pics. Everything looks overbuilt, which is good news... Let's hope the R&D goes well.

Rumor is that it will get the 4B11 in the 4cyl trim.

Yes that is the rumor.

Hyundai (Chrysler/Hyundai/Mitsubishi) was part of the team to engineer the 4B11T so....

"Mitsubishi 4B1 engine is the newest range of all-alloy straight-4 engines built at Mitsubishi's Japanese "World Engine" powertrain plant in Shiga on the basis of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA).[1][2][3] Although the basic designs of the various engines are the same, their exact specifications are individually tailored for each partner. The cylinder block and other basic structural parts of the engine were jointly developed by the GEMA companies, but the intake and exhaust manifolds, the cylinder head’s intake and exhaust ports, and other elements related to engine tuning were independently developed by Mitsubishi."

Ah I think a variant of this will be in the SRT4.

2.4

The 2.4 L 173 hp GEMA engine is used by Dodge in the R/T trim line of the Caliber. A 285 hp turbocharged variant of this engine will be used in the high-performance SRT-4 version of the Caliber.

The 2.4 engine is also the standard engine in the North American 2007 Chrysler Sebring and 2008 Dodge Avenger.
