The wifey and I spent the afternoon and evening in Santa Cruz for Valentine's Day. Although we took her car I made sure I took my camera gear with the tripod. I am not really good at using photo shop. I pretty much just use the basic functions on my PS 7.0 :) These aren't in any sort of order. The first one looks over edited to me and appears to be noisy. It was taken using a 30 second exposure in what looked like near complete darkness at iso 200 with the crappy 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. I hope to be getting a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens very soon. Enjoy 8)

Thanks guys. The first one looks like it's on Mars or something. Like I mentioned before, I am not the best with PS and it's was done with auto levels, auto contrast and auto color. Here's how it looked with only a reize.

That first one needs a noise reduction, indeed, but the picture's really too dark to work with. Go back for a 2 or 5 minute exposure and I'm sure it'll be perfect!

Thanks for all of the kind comments guys! It was totally fun playing around and experimenting. I would actually love to live in Capitola or Aptos. It's just so much more different and chill then Concord or Livermore and plus it's close to the ocean and nature. Another place I'd like to live besides New Zealand or Australia would be Lake Tahoe for the same reasons.

I took a series of shots of that third picture. Here is one that I took while my held my new hand held 6w LED Dorcy flash light she picked up for me a week ago or so. That little thing really kicks out the light in dark areasĀ* IMO it takes away from the shot but it was a fun lighting test.

Are you still out that way? I'll have to shoot you a pm next time we head down 8) I have a real basic tripod from Wolf Camera. I think I paid $40 for it if I am not mistaken. The guy that helped me was very helpful. He gave me very sound advice and I have pretty much ran with it. He said that I should fully learn and understand my existing camera equipment before I run out and buy nicer gear. I found that to be valuable advice.
