There is a gash in the side wall (arrow on first pic) about 1/4 inch wide 1/8 inch deep, is that significant enough to replace?? How about the wheel, should I have it rebalanced??

I don't race only some hard street driving.

D'oh! Been there too... :( I think the wheel will be okay (and now, it's less likely to get stolen ;)); I take it you scraped a curb--you didn't actually run it hard into something that could bend the wheel? As for the tire, I can't really see the "gash" in your photo; the rubber is a bit thicker near the rim so the damage may not be critical.

doesn't look too bad, i'd take it to a wheel shop tho and have them check for leaks. If you're leaking on the side wall you will have to replace the tire . . . you might have to do all four tires depending on how many miles you have on the tires.

If you need tires go to Auto R&D, Rishie has some kick butt prices for tires.

P.S time for new rims..... Auto R&D is liquidating some nice ass wheels... check it out.

thats not that bad man, cheer up :D i dont think you need to rebalance the tire and rim (unless you get a vibration from the steering wheel)

You can check for leaks yourself--just spray some soapy water over the damage and see if any bubbles come out. First though, check the tire pressure; if it's lost a lot of pressure then obviously it's leaking.
