From Evom: Well after about 1200k on the engine we got rid of the X... (http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=328845)

Why?

We did some testing and cannot comprehend spending this much $$$ on a car that is in our minds NOT AN EVO.

Testing cars:
Stock GSR IX vs. Stock GSR X

Drivers:
2 drives with 10+ years racing experience.

Test:
1/4 drag, Road course, and our parking lot auto X

------------------------------------------------------------------
Results:
1/4 driver 1 IX GSR - 14.2 / 14.0 / 14.0
1/4 driver 2 IX GSR - 14.1 / 14.2 / 13.9

1/4 driver 1 X GSR - 14.5 / 14.4 / 14.4
1/4 driver 2 X GSR - 14.3 / 14.5 / 14.7
------------------------------------------------------------------
Road course driver 1 IX GSR - 2:31 / 2:15 / 2.18
Road course driver 2 IX GSR - 2:25 / 2:32 / 2:20

Road course driver 1 X GSR - 2:46 / 2:42 / 2.39
Road course driver 2 X GSR - 2:42 / 2:43 / 2:45
------------------------------------------------------------------
Auto X driver 1 IX GSR - 32.6 / 33.1 / 33.4
Auto X driver 2 IX GSR - 33.8 / 32.8 / 32.2

Auto X driver 1 X GSR - 35.4 / 34.2 / 32.4
Auto X driver 2 X GSR - 34.8 / 34.5 / 33.9
------------------------------------------------------------------

So before I get bashed for selling the X, let me put some rhyme / reason here (well at least ours) ever since we first jumped into the X id DID NOT feel like an EVO at all. Its basically a lancer will the hopes and dreams of being an EVO also with all the talk about the Lancer Ralliart for 25K on the same platform is to temping over the EVO at this point.

The car is FEATURE rich no doubt but if I wanted all that why am I buying an EVO? Leave the features and lights to Audi / BMW and save the racing for EVO's. The X's turning / digging ability is nothing like the IX and it seems the X loses its guts after 5500 RPM's. While the IX just walks away.

I know a lot of you guys love the X and we are not trying to bash it, it’s just not up to EVO par in our eyes having them both first hand to play with. In fact the guy we sold the X to loves it and we were glad to point him to the vendors making parts for the X and showing good results doing so. But for us at Fullboostracing the X is just not enough compared to the IX.

So in the end the 33,000 we were going to spend on the Evo X is now being rolled into a GT-R purchase when they come out.
ll you X guys please enjoy your EVO's we are not trying to put you down just wanted to show everyone the results we got from our own testing.

the evolution of the lancer evolution so far has 10 variations with 4 different chassis. Evo 1-3, Evo 4-6, Evo 7-9, Evo 10. Tests have shown that the last evo of the different chassis types prove to be the best performance wise. In other words, the Evo III, EVO VI, EVO IX were considered by most to be the best Evos of the lot. I would wait until the Evo XII comes out.

Sparknotes = Evo III, VI, IX are the best, therefore wait for Evo XII. Let the bugs get worked out for the X and XI.

those guys are tripping on some good drugs. Not for bashing the EVO X, but for the supposed "testing" and premature conclusions in the light of other more established tuners who are producing amazing results with simple bolt on parts.

10+ years driving experience? shit... I have been autocrossing that long and driving twice that..

cheap sensational advertising which will ultimately cause them to lose sales as the X develops.

good for them... people give up when they can't accept the fact that not only is the Evo maturing it also has to comply with new US regulations about cars' safety and emissions being made today. I for one love both my Evos and accept their different roles, if they can't then too bad for them.

they can't afford the payments, and they're putting up some lame ass excuse.

lol, that's been speculated and I'm believing it. Any tuner is watching other tuners and seeing the awesome power that is being made.

Why get rid of it if it makes all this power? Becuase you can't afford it.

No wait, I like this one.

Getting all worked up over a car that when modded with just an intake makes more WHP then a IX with a full TBE..

Hahahaha Cbass VIII's and IX's stomp a lot of cars with more powa...
Its not just power,Its the combination of many factors that translate in to why
the VIII,s and IX,s are what they are...

Well, last I checked the X is still an Evo..... :?

So an Evo that makes more whp per mod to offset the new weight, that shifts more efficiently then a Manual gearbox, one is led to assume it's going to be faster.

BOOSTX2
03-18-2008, 02:59 PM
lol yeah we willl see about that.. From what I gathered visiting evoland the MR
Six speed on the VIII and IX was not up to the task...(GSR trans is betta)
And it looks like the new X MR still has a weak ass transmission.. not in so many
words but mitsu has allready announced that they have TQ limit..
Oh and also the Delayed release cause of trans related issues.. FTL:(

Yea, there is a worry there, but I'm hoping I can squeeze the most out of it for a street application.

I don't need an upgraded Turbo, and 500whp. I just want to hit that 300-350whp mark and be done with it. It is a DD so no need for a race car.

I'm getting the EVO X no matter what anyone says. The car is new, more modern, and still quick. Sure, not as quick as the IX, but still, I'm not getting an EVO X purely for the numbers that can be put out, I'm getting an EVO X because it's an EVO (my dream car) and that it's a more "livable" EVO. It's something that I can enjoy on my days off and relax in, and one that I can pound the crap out of when I'm racing on Bear Creek Rd. in Lafayette.

I love the new EVO X because of it's features and styling, I love the power it makes and the AYC and S-AWC. Sure, I also love the EVO IX for it's rawness and ability to pound on almost anything out there. But for me, is it a livable car that I can use day to day? Not really.

Just me PERSONAL opinion.

in a straight line? no, stopping power yes wider tires will do that.

Stock X tires are 18x8.5 right? What are IX tires?

X= 18x8.5 245 45? 18 IX= 17x8 235 45 17, im sure also the bigger rotors help getting that car to stop like a IX with 300 extra pounds.
