What does a lidar gun look like?

if you get close enough to tell the difference then the cop is already pulling you over

lol, Well sometimes I see cops with a black object that's up to their face and their looking thru something.....Is that Lidar?

it can be lidar or some radar units. Lidar requires the officer look through a sight to align the laser beam on your front license plate or headlights. heres an example of what they see

Everyone remove their front license plates...and put tape over the headlights...and if you get pulled over...just say it was your friends playing a joke on you and you didn't realize it...

I'm actually looking into a Laser Pro Park. It's a parking assistant that just happens to operate at the same wavelength as laser guns and provides you an alert that it detect a foreign laser.

Their also being used on Hywy S280 from Blackmountain RD on South. They are definitely no joke they can hit you coming or going with a hit of a switch on the LIDAR gun.

Every single morning coming down the 580 towards Pleasanton, there is a motorcycle cop parked right by the Hopyard exit pointing his gun towards the traffic.

That sucks about your girl dude. I've gotten a ticket for no blinker in campbell, fucking haters. I was like 'seriously? No blinker?" Sad part I was dodging a car that cut me off and jacked on his brakes. I only drive the speedlimit now. Sad part is now I know why I would pass some fast car or old muscle car and say to myself "why the fuck aren't they driving fast?" Now I know, too many fuckin speeding tickets.

probably useless, but interesting.

lidar--from the makers of jewdar and gaydar.

lets figure out more prefixes to put in front of "dar" while we circle-jerk. what's next? boostdar? badafrdar?

i guess i can only get mad because this stuff is pretty accurate as long as it's callibrated correctly. i love how we're aiming our military targeting technology inwards on our own folks!

There are two spots where I've seen cops EVERYTIME around 11-1pm.

1) El Camino Expressway Intersection
2) Right after Layette where there's a slight hill. There's a motorcycle cop sitting on the next entrance using radar.

Prospect Rd. between De Azna Blvd. and Lawrence Expressway. I see cops sitting in any of those church parking lots with their speed detection stuff in hand about 3 times a week

The problem with windshield/dash mounted detectors is that laser beams tend to travel in a straight beam of light, without much dissipation. The lidar manufacturers train cops to point the beam at your license plate or headlights, to get maximum reflection of the beam back to the unit (which is how the speed is detected). They also specifically tell cops not to point the laser towards or through the wind shield; laser beam radiation, even if invisible infra red light, is still dangerous to the eyes if pointed at them.

The best detectors are infra red sensors mounted in your grill, as close to the headlights as possible, problem is the laser detects your speed pretty much instantly, so by the time your detector goes off, the cop already knows the speed you are doing.

Laser jammers, while illegal under CVC, are punishable only by fines of $100, then $150 (2nd offense) then $250 for each subsequent offense. As far as I can tell, this offense does not add points to your license, however check with your lawyer to be sure. Seems cheaper than the speeding fine to me.
