The original/current 5D was priced at $3k when it was first introduced, so $3,500 doesn't seem to far off of what I think it will release for.

So I guess this is the counter strike to the Nikon's awesome low light champ. Doesn't look like the iso goes as high as the D3 but it's $1,500 cheaper. We're in some great times for photography gear.

this just rumors no set date or no proof that canon is even making a 5DmkII so all we can do is wait....

I may.
just waiting to see what the real specs will be.
if there's not too much over the current 5 I might just try to pick up the older one.

I just shot candids with a 5D (Normally use my 30) and I have to say it is a SWEET camera.Â* I love the full frame, looking through the viewfinder is HUGE compared to the 30D.Â* When I first looked through and focused, I was shocked at how clear and large it is. It is heavy with a battery grip though.

seems that 15.3 isn't really a significant improvement in regards to image size. i guess the cost is for the new internals. for the difference price, the current 5d looks like a better value.

i guess it really depends on what you value.

faster cross type AF, higher burst, 14 bit images, and to a less important extent, better rear LCD (i assume they will upgrade this to compete with canon)

granted, i am not sure if those upgrades (and others) will garner a ~$3k retail price for the body alone. but to some, those upgrades may constitute the extra cash.

5D should be coming down in price due to a canon rebate. $300 off instantly should start 5/18 (fantastic deal)

for the type of shooting that i do now, i don't really need the quickness. if anything the faster computing in regards to the AF and 14 bit images wouldn't justify the price tag. maybe if the camera comes with some type of wireless/network transmission option, now that would be sweet!

i just got rid of my 1d (original mkI i guess), and still have my 20d and 40d. the main reason i wanted a 5d level body was for the full frame sensor without having to drop 7 to 9 large for the 1ds. i am getting sick of the 1.6 fov magnification. ultimately, i will need to grope it for while before i pass my final decision. if not the next 5d, then take out a loan for a digital back...
