View Full Version : Got a ticket: 80+ on 280 N

Well it finally happened. I got pulled over by the CHP doing about 85 on 280 N (around the 92 intersection). I've only had my California license for 2 months now, and really want to keep this off my record (my insurance already is killing me ($2600/6months)) and was wondering what I should do. The ticket was issued for 80+ under 22849(a) VC Exceeding 65 mph

Anyone have any advise?

Thanks

How about Driving school?
Damn, $2600 for 6mos!
That's a lot of money.

Traffic school which can conveniently be done from the web browser of your choice. It costs more than going to court and pleading guilty but it stays off the old DMV record.

AdviSe eh? That S in there means you're either a Brit or from Canuckistan. Fancy a spot of red coloured armour? It's in the boot!

watch ur speed on 280? lol my friend hit 160 a few times on there.

but yeah online traffic school takes literally 15 minutes of ur time (assuming you know the CA traffic rules and don't have to read everything they present you). my friend that did it and said its a joke.

160? oh wow...fastest ive gone in my stock evo was 145+....hmmm...

i was wondering...if there a governor on the ECU that only allows it to go 158mph? or is it cuz it runs out of HP, thus limiting it to 158mph stock?

Traffic school, done online, still took me a couple hours. Plus one for review. But hey, I aced the written exam. I was always one of "those" kids in school. :nanaL

Howie: the Evo's top speed is rev-limited: basically the point at which the rev limiter kicks in once you're in 5th. Multiply rev-limit RPMs by final gear ratio by circumference of your tires, and that's basically your top theoretical speed. Adding WHP won't change that speed, though raising the rev limit will. Of course probably not far beyond that speed the Evo will be drag-limited--it's not exactly the sleekest car in the world--and in that case more power will help overcome that drag.

Of course if ever you find yourself at that speed, you're either on one of those "ring" tracks in Germany, or in serious trouble. :P
