Very cool read. Long though....

Some pics. The GTR looks odd in the front compared to the X, but the rear on the GTR is better then the X IMO.

It's not really a test... more of a drive and how the car feels.

They said the GTR is worth the extra money over the Evo. But the Evo is a good deal for what you get.

Well, let's be realistic....haha.

GTR vs Evo X?

$70k vs $30k?

0-60 in 3.2 seconds vs 4.8 seconds?

I knew the stock X was no match. Now with some bolt ons+weight reduction, we have yet to see.

Uh... It's going to need a lot more than bolt-ons. There are some things you can't change like style, build quality, materials, NVM etc. The GTR is not just about numbers, they built it for the complete experience.

I know, I wasn't saying it can be a GTR all around. I simply meant the X can compete more on the track against the GTR more if it loses wieght and builds some more power.

i rather be in gtr than in an evo that can beat gtr.....but i think the mark up is absolutely ridiculous (they make the price very close to 997tt)

for 70k gtr is well worth it but for 100k+ i dont think so.....

Everything in the UK is expensive relative to here.Â* The 997 TT is almost 200K there.Â* Anyway, you can get both an MR and a GSR for the price of a GTR.Â* GT-R is a great car but it is also proof of the notion of diminishing returns.Â* The only way to get an incremental improvement on the basic Evo X while providing warranty-level reliability is to spend lots of money.

Ironically, the GT-R might end up cheaper to own if you can talk a dealer into charging you list. Given the limits on their manufacturing capacity for the next couple years, depreciation might be fairly small.

The GTR is like, levels above the EVO X. The GTR is designed for those with $$$ and seeking power/luxury. It's designed to compete with cars like Porsche and BMW M series and Corvettes. The EVO X is designed to compete in categories like the 350z, G35, etc. Comparing the EVO X to the GTR is like comparing a Ferrari to a Camry, two different target audiences.

I think there are things that the Evo can do that the GTR cant.. for one thing, extremely tight canyon runs or semi offroad type stuff.. evo is still the rally car of the two.

No, you said "when was it ever", I said "who said it was".

.....you might be confused, but that isn't the same thing.

oh. by the way bdking said "the evo is still the rally car of the two." i took it as, the GTR used to be a rally car but isn't anymore.

Interesting article...but I think they should stick to the Evo vs. STi rivalry.Â* I think they did this comparison to show just how good the X can be...in other words...the poor man's supercar.Â* Reminds me of that FQ-400 vs. Murcielago battle they had awhile back.Â*

In terms of performance the Evo can be made to compete at supercar levels...this is already proven.Â* But like others have said, it's the experience of having the GT-R that makes the difference.
