Mitsubish has issued the first service advisory on the Evo X.

High boost on a non-heat saturated motor can force fuel into the oil. All turbo egines are prone ot this but Mitsu saw fit to issue the warning so maybe a little extra care is necessary for the X?

What could the extent of the damage be? Severe or a minor annoyance.

the fuel lowers the viscosity of the oil which chould lead to pre-mature bearing failure.

You could also wash down your cylinders which would cause the rings to never be able to make a good seal, which could lower your cyl compression, etc etc

Don't boost on a cold motor.

However there are safeguards on the stock car to limit wastegate duty cycle when cold. I would imagine the Evo X has the same safeguard.

but if you go all gangster with a forge wga that no longer applies. 21psi minimum ALL the time.

I make it a point to never even touch 1psi untill after its at operating temps.

I don't think it would be good to go WOT on any car that hasn't fully warmed up... should be common sense.

common sense needs a service advisory, that is just the world we live in.

I try to keep it in the lower rpms and little to no boost until it is fully warmed up.

*warning* Coffee may be *HOT*

Does anyone remember the thread where the SRT-4 guy washed the inside of his motor with soap and water because it looked dirty when he was changing his plugs. These warnings are for teh dumb asses...aka more than 50% of the population is dumb as dirt....and it will always be.

Be safe out there guys...they are everywhere.
