I read that, I couldn't really believe it.....It cant be a wide spread issue as no-one else had this problem.

No matter what he says, we'll never know what really happened. He wouldn't tell the truth on the internet where insurance investigators could read about him dicking around and breaking the pedal.....I personally don't believe it.

Where's Steve? He'd love this thread.

the evo x's are drive by wire
so i think it's just attached to a plastic box with a potentiometer-like piece and a spring

Now remember though, Give the Tards at Evo M a steel ball bearing in a padded room they could either break it, lose it, or sexually molest it. :)

Humm...I had a plastic pedal on my Audi S4....never had an issue. Seems like something else was the cause because normal pressure, hell even stomping on the loud pedal wouldn't break the damn thing...

This just happened a month or two ago to us as well.... but it was a 2G DSM, with a 110lb girl driver. This just goes to show that Mitsubishi sucks at building cars. Nevertheless, we'll still buy them because they are fast, cheap, and easy to mod.

An actual metal pedal broke on a DSM Jerry? Or are you talking about the normal clutch pivot wearing out problem?

Really? Wow. was it rusted or bent or something prior to it? The pedal or the whole arm?

JERRY

The pedal broke off mid arm, no rust, nothing. If I can find our camera, I'll take a picture of it. You can see it broke clean off. We've seen everything imaginable in these piles of trash, broken pedals, control arms just falling off mid turn, sun roofs popping off, everything. I hate them.

It is no suprise to me to see other people's pedals breaking. I have a pretty good engineering mind, and I had my engineer put the pedal into his Inventor Pro program and do a stress analysis on it. It can't take much force with the leverage you put on the break point, and over a short period of time is weakens easily.

A little update. You know that nice little $400 interior package that comes with the really cool shift knob and e-brake handle? Well last week my shift knob busted off. The outside is metal, but the threaded part is a plastic insert and the actual insert snapped in half.

I know you guys must be thinking I'm a brute by now but I was just shifting normally. I had to replace it with a metal one from my Honda...which has a metal thread. Hopefully they resolve the silly poor engineering crap....because the rest of the car is fab. There isn't another car in the world I would trade for right now....at any price.

LOL the car is going to fall apart because of his gorillaness

It looks like he kicked it sideways. It is plastic, but it is reinforced, like a plastic crate which generally take a lot of weight before they break.

WTF! lol another reason why Mitsubishi is going down the shitter.
