boost & afr

Looks like Mitsubishi finally got the tune where it should be for the EVO X. The engine pulls noticably smoother, and Matt reports that the funky idle fluctuations are now gone. I recommend anyone with an EVO X to get this TSB reflash. The only only caveat is that this new rom may not be immediately compatible with the up and coming ECUTEK reflash software. Someone will probably have to have their TSB reflash rom pulled and sent to ECUTEK for deciphering before it can be tuned.

Here is a before and after comparison with and without the TSB. The original runs were made a few months ago when the X first came out.

boost & afr comparison

With custom tuning this car w/o any physical modifications shouldn't have any problem making 260-270 whp. The factory TSB reflash is definately a nice addition, and should have come this way when the car first came out.

Amazing. Well, amazing they didn't do this in the first place.

Thanks Andy for running my car on the Dyno the biggest thing i noticed was even though the AFRs are dipping below what your dyno can read, the slope of that entry into the 10.0 AFR is vastly improved meaning it's definately not 9.5 AFR (as noted on the GST dyno) and from about a .5 AFR leaning I made about 15 whp across the board on the heart breaker SE Dyno Dynamics dyno! Let me know when you guys decide your ecu flash path I'm looking forward to dropping the AFRs to 11s and upping the boost to 16-17 psi up top (stock turbo limits) and for you to work your magic with my dual cam MIVEC.

I concur...this flash is essential for a stock X.

I called a guy that I know that works for Mitsu North America and he told me that the newer evo X's should already have the tune. Better safe to check though.

Thats what I was told by my guy, however I am still having problems starting it. Appearantly they know about this issue but have not fixed it, they also have the same problem with some lancers.
