Very good read. Looks like despite negative rumors, the X MR can more then handle itself with bolt-ons+tune.Â* 8)
From AMS via EvoM:
Â* Â* Â*As many of your know Some of our guys made the trip to the long beach Grand prix this week for a super lap battle with our TA1 time attack car. Specifically the president and head engineer of AMS Martin Musial and shop foreman and head engine builder Tim Salefski.
Aside from Long beach Grand Prix event one of our friends over at Mitsubishi in Cyprus asked to come by and to toss our new EVO X product line on the New Evolution X MR. We Grabbed some of our prototype units and tossed them in the trailer for the trip. After installing the goodies they then gave Tim and Martin the car to Drive around while in town for the race.
After much deliberation and some Arm Twisting Martin and Tim succumbed to Mitsubishi’s request and have been driving around an AMS equipped Evo X MR….are you kidding me they were laying rubber before the Mitsubishi rep finished the question. So far they LOVE IT. On top of the added power from the AMS parts they simply LOVE the MR transmission. It has a few different settings and to put it most simply it is just like driving a manual transmission car. There is even the ability to have it electronically down shift for you! Tim has been using expletives like “Bad Ass” and “awesome” over and over again so I think it’s safe to say all you future MR owners out there are going to be in good hands.
Here are some pictures of the facility and the cars in cyprus. Later Rich will post up some pics of our parts installed on the car. It’s a breath of fresh air seeing Mitsubishi working with a well known tuner on the EVO X. I think this is going to turn into something great for all current and future EVO owners.
