Is something wrong with the Gallery?

Yes there is something amiss. In case you guys had not heard, there is a PHPBB worm on the loose, details here (http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/385063). Because of this, we had to take some preventative measures. Hopefully, we can resolve the gallery issues ASAP and get things going. We had to change a file or two around, which is one reason why you don't see the quick reply field anymore.

Is there a way to make the gallery work with only generic placeholder thumbnails (and no resizing) (both of which I'm guessing require 'exec')?

Since Gallery is being crappy for now, you might want to consider posting your pictures on www.imagenode.com - free picture hosting and it even gives you the appropriate PHP tags for posting up the image after you have uploaded it. You know ... tags.

It's been around for a while. It will be fixed hopefully sooner than later. it has to do with a "fix" that had to be performed in order to get around a stupid phpBB worm that was around on the net.
