Howdy to all the North Cali Evo/Lancer owners! I will be visiting San Francisco in Mid March to see if I really want to move my family out there. I am currently in Kokomo, Indiana (Middle of Nowhere!) I am an active member of the Midwest Lancer Club and try to attend every meet that is planned. I would like to get to know some of the members and possibly meet some of you when I get out there in March. If I do like it in Cali, I will be packing up and moving out there in June of 2005. Hope to talk with you all soon!

Welcome to the site Shado! You won't find many more Evos in one area than here on the west coast.

Welcome Shado!
I hope you enjoy the SF/Bay Area. I myself, enjoy the Bay Area as I am originally from Orange County/So Cal. It's diverse in all aspects which is what led me to relocate. The members on this site are great, helpful and knowledgeable. Enjoy your stay here!

You will love it out here I used to live in the Midworst and it is so dull. Lots of twisty roads to burn up the Advans and mild climates year round. Just make sure you have a high paying recession proof job or this place will eat you alive.

Money is one thing I don't have... Currently I work for Delphi Automotive Electronics (Makers of the XM MyFi Radio). I have family in San Fran. so I will not be jumping in totally blind. If I do decide to move out there, my Uncle has agreed to hire me. I have been well warned of the cost of living difference. Things may be somewhat cheaper here in the midwest, but it is also harder to get ahold of things that are avalible in other areas of the country. Case in point, I had to drive 150 miles to the nearest Mitsubishi Dealership when I wanted to buy my Lancer. Even with that, they had to order my car from another dealership that was 3 states away. So I feel that the Cost of Living vs. Ease of finding what you are looking for, kind of balances it out. I am tired of the Midwest, the most fun you can have is Auto-Xing in the summer, or playing in the snow in the winter. The only other thing is Cow Tipping! But I would never do anything like that, would I? Anyone know how much rent on a two bedroom apartment is per month? Just give me your best guess.

A 2 bdrm apartment in SF is going to be about $2000 - $2500 if your lucky. It will be cheaper in the east bay like Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, etc.

On the Peninsula, you can find a 2 bedroom ranging anywhere from $1,300.00-$1,700.00. The not-so-great areas will be cheaper like $900.00-$1,100.00.

Living in the SF area is probably not the best idea if you value your money. You might want to consider other areas like Fremont (though the cops suck) or Milpitas (again, the cops suck there too) or San Jose (cops are friendlier since they have real crime to worry about). I've found 2 bedroom apartments here for 1200 or so.

I wouldn't characterize the Midworst as somewhat cheaper, more like dirt cheap with the Bay Area being outrageously expensive. And I came from Chicago which is about the highest cost of living in the Midworst. Just make sure you have a good amount of savings when you move out here and keep your spending under control until a few paychecks roll in and you should be OK.
