Hi guys,

Just dyno tested what was perhaps one of the weakest EVOs we've ever tested. On our DD dyno, it put down between 187 and 191whp which is 10whp stronger than most other EVOs we've tested. After the baseline XFlash, it made a repeatable 220-221whp with one cold outliner run of 226whp. 30-40whp in 2 minutes ;)

Cheers,
shiv

hi shiv,

how come it only put out 187whp? what was wrong with it?

Wow, really good gain which means that if your Evo feels a bit weak, say compared to other Evos you might have driven, there is a cure.

Was this a stock Evo? How much more hp do you think could gain if you decided to do a custom tune? Maybe 4 - 5?

The numbers gained from a simple reflash are close to Leroy's gains off a base Xflash - he got up to 230whp. Gotta love the Xflash.

Yep, it was a completely stock EVO with 2000 miles on the clock. It is conceivable that more miles would help but, from what I've seen, these cars remain pretty static once initial break-in is complete. FWIW, my EVO was also "weak" from the factory. I suspect it has something to do with piston to cylinder wall clearance and associated blow-by/leakdown. It doesn't help that the factory tends to overfuel them under boost which tends to make things worse due to cylinder wash. Not sure how much more power could have been squeezed out through custom tuning. 220-225whp is already quite a bit for a stock car running on our junk gas.

Regards,
Shiv

i was reading import tuner and i might have read wrong but i believe they had a dyno sheet with and after market intake(AEM I think it was) only and it lost power...but after ECU re-mapping and tuning, it showed 257 hp at the wheels or something like that...

vs 233 stock hp...maybe i read wrong?

That is right. They were primarily saying that to get the most out of our Evos is the tweak the ECU. That is why I put back my stock filter. I wait for my Xlash.
