New Feature - Reputations!

Hi Guys,

I put in a new feature for the site. On the posts if you look under the screen name there is something called "reputation" you can add or subtract someone's reputation.

have fun.

you have to have a min of 200post count to add or subtract other people's rep.

yeah and the reset counter is set at 1 hour. so you cant sit there and keep hitting neg rep to someone, you have to wait 1 hour to add/subtract to the same person.

and this will be good until the higher powers above me decides to remove the feature.

How does it make sense to vote someones reputation every hour? Does someones reputation and anothers opinion of them change that much in so little time? If so, then why even rate such a fluxuating number?

Also, I can already see this being abused, meaning the same person with a gripe just rating you down every hour. :?

I like it, but it should be 1 vote per account, no?

it's more so to do with posts.

i.e. i start a thread on a topic you guys give me pos/neg rep etc... i suppose the more positive rep u have means the topics you create or reply to are good.

BTW: I do agree there should be some sort of way to find out who + or - you. That way revenge can be had. :lol:

On Zilvia.net, they have the same system, but you rep the particular post they posted and it shows on their profile who did it and also shows comments put in by the person that added or took away the rep.

I'll see what i can do about that. i think it's an added option which cost $$$ hahaha and i dont hold the bank account. and i'm not sure if the powers above me would like this feature kept. so have fun while it lasts.

maybe there should be a rating count: just like post count, that way we can see who's passing out all the feedback.

not to mention somone could have a chance at being top whore in something Panges hasn't mastered yet?

I like this feature. I think it's more for fun and amusement rather than something that's going to be taken seriously though. However, on some other forums, it is taken rather seriosuly, but on that forum, you can see how many positive or negative reps each person has GIVEN, and who they gave it to, as well as how many they have recieved and who gave it to them. If it's just a blind +/- system like we have now, it's just going to be abused for the sake of messing w/ someone/anyone/everyone. :D

i think aside from a select few people, the system will work out over time. once the excitement of a new feature wears down. On a side note i have -5 (currently) so i think so far if you post you get negative off the bat. I think i shoulda got some + for the thread on why i rated you.

wow... I guess I picked a bad evening to go shooting.. I get back to all kinds of crazy pm's, texts and also this :shock: I even have negative reps already and I havent been on since I left work(before this was posted)..

Personally I dont mind, but I really dont see this feature being purposeful at all. I just see it causing all kinds of topics to go off topic even more then they do..
