i avg 18/24 with my new factory flashes. I don't know what a stock 8 does because mine gets 4.6 MPG

my 9 averages about 20 to the gallon with granny driving and a couple of smashes...about 200miles to the full tank..

SavageEvo8

i get 200 to the tank in city, 350 on the highway in my 8....what a difference boosting makes!

I got 220 miles on a full tank. The Lancer goes 400 on a full tank.

I'd think the Evo X would be about the same gas mileage ... range is further because of the bigger gas tank.

This is a thread on X gas mileage not 8/9. Reading comprehension>NCE members.

well the question also asked if it was better than 8/9, since i dont own both, i gave an insight on what i see on my 8 because maybe theres some fresh evo owners who went straight to an X and have no idea what the previous models got.

jeremy clarkson was saying the fq360 only got 48 miles to its tank hammered down through it all....... wtf is that all about? thats worthless

FQ360 = Very much Modified + Speeding = Low Mileage.

Try hammering an Evo 8/9 on a track and you'd go through a tank in about the same amount of mileage.

Yup, I got 4.5 MPG at thunderhill last time I took my Evo 8 out there. lol

True story. I'll go through 3/4 tank in two 20 minute sessions. I think I did the math once and got like 4-5 miles/gallon.

lol, I'm being serious! Those numbers are me breaking in the car. So I rarely use the turbo to it's abilities, and I drive like a damn grandma. I feel like that's the best I'm going to get out of this car.

$55 to fill up on Premium at 76 or Chevron and I go 220 miles average on a full tank. The gas tank is small, or it seems that way. I think it's only 12 or so gallons.

thats odd that there wasnt much change, shouldnt you have a little more of a difference between city/highway?

fiaevo.com
07-01-2008, 01:16 PM
it was mixed mostly freeway driving, by 18/19 I meant about that per gallon not city / highway, sorry I miss typed. I think a regular X would yeild about 21-22 , I had a tune and bunch of test parts, however once done I dont think I would ever see 20 or over on it.

They have all the federal fuel economy figures.

the 03/04 Evo 8 has 16 city / 23 hwy
the 05 Evo 8 has 17 city / 24 hwy
the 06 Evo 9 has 17 city / 23 hwy
the 08 Evo 10 has 16 city / 22 hwy

the only problem with these figures that that for 08 cars they changed the EPA economy tests so that most 08 avg a loss of 1-2 mpg against the old figures.

When they test them, don't they pack the cars with passengers?

The old figures are adjusted to match the new 08 measurements.

By old measurements and my window sticker shows - the 05 Evo 8 has 19 city / 26 hwy

higher crusing speeds (80), AC on, faster accel to speed etc.

I'm seeing about 23mpg on the hwy and around 17-18 on city streets. But like anything else...it's how you drive the car.

I just got the reflash done at Veracom, and it helped with gas mileage. Mods on car is Green drop in filter, Greddy DP, and HKS axleback. Before the flash I would average 23-25mpg on the freeway and 14-16mpg in the city. Now at a steady 70 mph on the freeway I get 25/26 mpg depending if going uphill or not and about the same in the city 14-16. Car still runs rich as my tips are getting the black soot again, but not on my trunk lid anymore. Get the flash and you'll definately feel the difference. And the service advisor at Veracom said doing a TBE, filter is fine with warranty...but any ecu flashes and suspension work voids warranty automatically. Just a heads up.

*oh yea...and the rumors about mitsubishi actually being able to read the flash has been verified by the service advisor if a CEL comes on. They would have to read the roms.

WTF? how does suspension work void the warranty? Your suspension warranty? It has nothing at all to do with the drivetrain.

I'm just the messenger. But does sound like Mitsu is pretty harsh on any modding. I guess you dont have a warranty anymore???

No... my warranty is 100% intact... it is 100% STOCK.

I really don't think suspension will void your warranty - the dealer is messing with you.

the suspension might void the drivetrain warranty if the aftermarket part caused the failure.

We should really avoid the word "void" when talking about warranty coverage.. All they can do is deny a warranty claim.. You can still even take it to a different dealer and get them to cover it when the 1st one denies it.

When they deny it, they are *suppose* to have proof that a modification you made directly caused a failure. But you might have to go to court to actually get them to honor the warranty.

Oh yeah.. I am seeing 14-15MPG right now out of the X.. On the original flash still. No real highway driving yet so i can't say for that.

Huh? The suspension isn't related to the drive train... maybe if your car is too low and it caused your cv joint to fail?

since you're 100% stock...put some coilovers in...drop it about 2 - 2 1/2" and let us know if your warranty is still intact after having servicing your car at the stealership :peewee: that is you tell them you hear squeaking when hitting a bump at low speeds. will warranty be voided then??

Well, like I said, they will not honor the suspension warranty but all the other components will be covered. Like if I put on coilovers and my engine blows up. My engine will still be covered under warranty. Suspension has nothing to do with the engine.
