smoked headlights/taillights laws

Please forgive me if there is already a thread regarding this, if there is, I couldnt find it. Anyways, back on topic. I wanted to blacken my head lights and tail lights (only for looks) on my GTS, but was wondering what the law against doing that may be. Appreciated if anyone knows or has any answers or suggestions. Thanks!

is this a regular lancer your asking about? legally in california i believe no tint is allowed. the red and yellows/orange have to be visible for "safety/visibility" reasons
