You can tell by the 60ft I was babing the stock clutch, I really dont want to replace it yet. Now I gotta get that trap speed into the triple digits. Met a new Evo WW MR owner there. Told him about the boards and hope to see him here soon. Also met onesicklambo, and another TB owner. Glad to meet all of you.

With a little better launch, I'm sure you can get 13.5-13.6s. What mods do you have?

I launch around 5300 to get out of the hole w/o bogging.

werd....good numbers bro! My friend ran his G35 last week.....some of you may remember Jevon, used to be an Evo owner!

I was launching at about 5300 also, when I ran my 03. Once I got used to it, I wasn't cooking the clutch anymore and my best pass was 13.2 at 102 or 103(can't rememeber).

Maybe one of these weeks we can all head down to the track for some good ol' domestic ass whuppins! hahaha.....

What do you mean when you guys said launching at 5300rpm? Do you just let go of the clutch entirely?

MarkSAE

I do a quick slip before I let the clutch pedal all the way out. This means I hold the rpms around 5300, let the clutch pedal 3/4 of the way out til the car starts moving. Once you feel the car start catching, then let the clutch all the way out. With enough practice, you'll be able to get a feel for it and it'll become second nature to you. ;)

BTW, I have my clutch restrictor out so my launch technique may differ slightly from those of you who still have it in.

Unless you're running an aftermarket clutch, it is not advisable to do a clutch drop on the stock clutch.

Stock clutch needs to be slipped a bit before you drop it for a nice launch.

Hey mark, what pros and cons have you found from reoving the restrictor. I still havent decided if I want to remove mine. I was thinking about just drilling it a lil bigger.

The main purpose of the clutch restrictor is to slow clutch engagement if someone does a clutch drop. By making your clutch engage slower, your clutch will burn up when you launch. This will prevent a shockload from being sent down your driveline.

Without the restrictor, you can still achieve the same effect by training your left foot to slip the clutch when you launch. With a little practice, you'll get used to it.

Just keep in mind that wheel hop is what breaks parts fast. Always let off the gas if you get any wheel hop off the starting line. I've noticed that if there's a lot of VHT sprayed on the launch pad for the slick'd cars, I'll get a lot more wheel hop.

Pros:
- much improved shifting feel
- much improved clutch feel
- fast shifts are much smoother
- your clutch can last a lot longer from launching (depends on your technique)

Cons:
- in the wrong hands, some serious damage can happen

Hmmmmmmm

Ive heard something about drilling it out a bit to get the best of both worlds, what do you think about that? yay or nay?

I wouldn't call it the "best" of both worlds. It's more of a compromise. You can try it. Having no restrictor is not as scary as it seems once you get used to it. You can always put it back in if you don't like it. Whereas if you drill yours out, you'll have to replace the restrictor to go back to stock.
