So I figured it was time to start marking my pics here pretty soon since I keep getting them stolen.. Snapped a pic of a humming bird at lunch and decided to try and add a watermark to it.. What do you guys think? Anything I can change? I want something I can appropriately tag all my pics with so I figured I would just do a clean text with my first initial and last name. Any input would be appreciated. TIA.

I think the watermark should be standard font like Arial.

So it'll be easy to read and there will be no "mistake" when reading the name on the watermark.
I feel putting "S. Larman" in Arial should be enough.

yeah thats partially my fault.. bad editing.. The pic is actually pretty crappy in general I was just more or less looking to see what people thought of the watermark. here the unedited one.. all I did was crop it and watermark it.

i was just playing. i like the script version myself.
especially if you're thinking about a possible business in the future.
having the word photography infers a studio/company.
you might think about grabbing the domain as well, if it's a direction you are considering.

not really looking to make it a business thing BUT as you said it looks more official that way.. Quite frankly my stuff still looks like shit to me. Better then some maybe but I know it's not worth charging people for it.. I do put quite a bit of work into it though so when I see my pics on other peoples websites, or craigslist or some shit it really pisses me off that they didn't ask. That and lately I have had people take my shots off myspace and then make them larger and repost them which screws the quality of it all up, so I'm hopeing the watermarking will help with that.

Steve...How about....: "Wigga Pics Yo!" 8) J/K.. more seriously:

I like the picture. The writing is fine just I think maybe a little more subdued?? The font line a bit smaller
and possibley shaped arch like out of the central region. Just some ideas....

yeah I thought about the transparency of it as well, which is really no big deal cause it's stampped in a layer and will be adjusted per pic. As for the arching thing the problem I believe that will come up is that it will be even more distracting on some pics and I would like to use the same logo/script stamp on everything with little changes that way they all look uniform in a album etc.

If that's your worry, just leave the watermark in the center, and it makes whomever that wants to rip it off and makes it their own alot more difficult.

The more I look at it...The more I like it. Simple is the best. Scratch shaping the font line. Straight is great. Maybe just play with the transparency like you said.

Yeah I think I'll just roll with what I have for now unless I can come up with something else.. The problem is, is that there's really no one watermark that will work with every pic so it's frustrating. This is one thing my creative side is seriously lacking in. I have been thinking about this for awhile and I'm stumped. I'm really not overly happy with what I have but oh well.

you could try embossing it through the matte of the text instead of just mixing it over. it will be transparent but still show up in the image as a bit of a warp.

I've never done embossing before.. How do you do it :?

Looks good.....Think text line off center and more subdued looks betta. Course its scene dependent as well.

I think smaller in the bottom corner is better. Make sure your EXIF info is all filled in and hope for the best.

that Golden Gate shot looks real nice, might just be me because I personally like photos with the Bay Bridge/Golden Gate with some part of downtown SF in the backround but yeah that shot looks good
