im here at works right now and the staff here are hella cool. i test drove their evo x with their prototype O2 housing, prototype exhaust and their springs. pretty cool of them to let me test drive their x. I'll have pics and a short vid of me driving around infineon later....

Whoa nice. I had heard the 02 housing was the most restrictive part. Definitely interested in picking up one of those.

They selling the prototype yet?

no the prototype is in the "works" right now (lol) the exhaust setup is pretty dope as it looks like two resonators in place of the stock muffler in black. i might sell my hks axle back for this setup when it comes out...i would take pics of the exhaust but my blackjack takes shitty pics... i shoulve brought my camera with me

they jus cam back from data loggin and my car hit a consistent 24.5 lbs of boost...i need to find out what it tapered down to...they said that most evos that come in have slight knock...mine showed no signs..thats effin sweet

08evoX

You wouldn't happen to know which springs these were do you? Bill mentioned that they were putting the 0.9" version on.

those that havent gotten a tuned flash yet for their x, I recommend you get it. The car pulls nice now to redline. I didnt dyno my car at works because of the dynapack, and I figured numbers would be higher since the wheels arent to the ground. So i'll be dynoing my car at Ditos Motors next friday. My last dyno was 246whp and 279 ft/lbs tq with a drop in, greddy dp, and hks axle back. This was before the updated factory flash/works flash. I'm guessing close to 300 ft/lbs tq and whp is up in the air right now

So you got their flash, a drop-in, downpipe and axle back and made 246whp?

08evoX
07-26-2008, 01:17 AM
sorry...shouldve been more specific...those numbers were before the updated flash and before the works flash with the mods listed. AFR at the time was 9.0. Will have new numbers next friday

Different dynos will give different results.

I'm sure you're right, the 18" wheels can't be light. I should run 13" wheels to make more hp. :)

Yeah, Andy was pretty impressed with X especially since I still have my stock cat. I'm sure a test pipe and an O2 housing will help it breathe better. I forget who but someone is working on a O2 housing design. I believe it's AMS.

Here's the Works dyno. Hard to say ~296 lbft on Works dyno and ~280 on SpeedElements.

I meant it's hard to read on the SE's dyno chart. I'm guessing around 280 lbft.

I'm pretty impressed as well. It's already quite a bit stronger than my former stage 2 STi and the handling is just fantastic. I'll be taking this car autoxing pretty soon to see how it does.

Are the lower curves without a tune? Interesting to see that the spool (more so the ramp up of power and torque) didn't change post tune. I guess they still don't touch Mivec.

Yes the lower curve is without the tune. Perrin showed a post where they have modified MIVEC parameters and it showed incredible spool. My dyno chart doesn't look anything like Perrins so I doubt there has been any MIVEC changes.

I did speak to Pete @ Works recently and they mentioned something about getting better spool lately. Sounded like they were working on it but I'm not sure where they're at. I know he just tuned a bunch of guys at Edo so I wonder if they've seen any these improvements.

Well they took over 15 hours total to install 3 of my defi guages and I told them the first time to check that they had tapped a constant power wire. Installer insisted he had tapped the right wire. Went back two or three times for a few hours each and they ended up telling me it was due to having bought used guages. Each time i told them it's the fucking power wire....its not hooked to a constant.....even pete came to look at it and saw nothing wrong.

I ended up giving up on them and SpeedElement fixed my issue for me in 30 minutes.....guess what?? Didn't tap to a constant power source......

What a waste of my time. My time is worth something. So now I just avoid doing anything there. If they can't install 3 gauges I really do feel a little scared for you guys getting a tune there. They are nice guys and I do like a lot of their products, but when people are ready to blame a customer before listening to them, then that is not a place that deserves my business.

LOLZ when my Works shaft seals were leaking I was told that I probably installed them wrong and I wouldn't get any kind of refund or anything. I pointed out that I bought their throttlebody with the seals pressed in by them. I ended up getting another set from GST and then having SE install.
