Anyone buy tires from Edge Racing? They have Toyo Proxes 4 in stock size for the Evo at $108. Seems like a good deal.

I can't believe I'm already shopping for tires already. Only 5000 miles on the stock tires and they're at 3/32 already. Just daily driving too.

Note those are the Proxes 4s and not the Proxes T1s's, which they sell for $139 (not a bad price either I think).

only 5000? i just got mine hcaged at 25000 :D course i'm probably the luckyest SOB around..i should go back to the shop and see if they disposed of my old tires yet..they'd make an interesting display :D...2...yes i said 2, of them were throwing thread out (well it was only one when i ordered new tired but by the time the backordered SOB arrived the second one had started) and as for the penny trick(which i didn't know about until i started shopping for tires) there was not much of a noticable difference between in depth on the penny :D

Hi folks:
Well, Motorsport Techniques in Hayward are selling the Proxes 4 for $115 each, so I'm getting them there this Sat. I hope the Advans haven't spoiled me too much.

Bumping an old thread.

Anyone order tires or wheels from Edge Racing before? If so, what were your experiences with them?

Thx.

Edge Racing looks like they have good prices but they totally rob you on the shipping cost.

For Toyos, try Frisby Performance Tire (http://www.frisbyracetire.com/); they have RA1s for $170 each, $11 shipping per tire. Also, AIM Tire (http://www.aimtire.com/) in Sonoma (next to Infineon Raceway) has RA1s for the same price.

For Hankook, Falken and Nitto tires, I recommend DiscountTireDirect (http://www.discounttiredirect.com/)--great prices, no tax, and free shipping.

For the rest, try either DTD or TireRack.

Tam, Did you ever try the Hankook RS2 Z212 you writing about awhile back?

I've read some press about them recently but I want some personal opinons.

Thanks for the info Tam. Discount Tire Direct seems like the way to go.

I also read about the Hankook RS2's in the latest C&D. They placed very well considering their price. At $113 per tire for 245/45/17, I don't think I can pass that up. But I'm debating between those and the new Azeni RT615s, which cost $155 per tire.

Even though Edge Racing has high shipping costs, they will still save tons of money in the end. I was going to get a set of Falken Azenis ST-115's for $495.00 shipped, while most other places were quoting me $710.00.

I opted for a completely different route though, but Edge Racing was my plan. I know quite a few peeps that have used them and were completely happy.

I've just about finished off the first set of them, and I will be buying them again as street tires for the Evo. They grip extremely well for street tires; I autocrossed them a couple times and they performed nicely there. I don't think they're quite as good as the Yokohama Advan Neova or the Falken RT-615, but for the price I couldn't be happier.

chrisw has some federals w/240 or 260 treadwear which can be had for well under $100.
