I traded in my 05 Evo 8 for a Evo 10 over the weekend while in SoCal visiting friends... A bit impulsive but a good buy.

How much is it after the trade-in?

I don't want to publicly say the price for the car... they asked me not to state it. 2.9% financing makes it even better. :) Back to making car payments. :(

They gave me 20K for my Evo 8.

Well, it feels good! It is definitely softer and quieter than the Evo 8 which is what I was looking for.

It has less raw-ness for the daily drive but still has the Evo performance. I loved cruising on the highway with cruise control, set the temp for the auto climate control, sat-nav set to my destination and listen to Sirus satellite radio out of a audio system that is actually decent. It's quiet, relaxed when you want it to be... and it is still an Evo when you want to push it hard. Other than some import fanboys, it doesn't get much attention from normal people and police. Very nice and stealth.

I test drove a lot of other cars. The G37S coupe, 135i, 335i, 350Z, G35 sedan, and the new STI... kept coming back to the Evo 10 because it has a lot for the money and performance is still tops. The front end styling is okay.. but definitely not as pretty as some of the other cars but then styling has never been the Evo's strong point.

Sweet make sure you turn off the ASC for loads of fun

The ASC has a two step setting, right? The first press is to turn off traction control and hold down to turn off ASC completely.

Does it apply rear brakes when you have ASC off? I read a post on EvoM that when they tracked the car - it was applying rear brakes to stabilize the car and ended up locking out the rear wheels because of aftermarket rear pads.

Stock is fine for now... The SUV ride height does bother me though.

My last car just had suspension and brake mods. The engine was untouched.

There is ASC off when you press it once. which turns off the stability and throttle pull back. the AYC may still use the rear brakes to control the rear if it wants (slow inside wheel etc.). Use for spirited driving. This mode allows the car to turn like it's on rails with a little give in the rear when you push it.

when you hold down the ASC off button for 3 seconds it will turn off stability and throttle pull back. The ACD and AYC will continue to use Throttle torque split to stabilize your car path but will never apply the brakes. You should use this mode at the track. This is the mode that allows the wicked power slides and most freedom.

Wanna drive my X?

Oh ... I have to mention the engine noise at 80mph is pretty loud.

It really drones and the engine is constantly spinning at 4K rpm. Below 80 mph it is ok.

It's not that bad for me as I don't do much high speed highway cruising, but the lack of a 6th gear and the aggressive short gearing really deters it from being an otherwise great long distance driver.

Yeah, that's a carryover from the IX. I remember my VIII being quieter in 5th than the IX.

Congrats on the new purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if Mitsu would ever consider putting a 6 speed in the EVO X and throwing the auto tranny away...
