This is my first attempt at HDR photography. I need some practice with photoshop, but it came out OK. Post up some of yours.

yeah i'm always says that it doesnt have enough high dynamic range to make the HDR. i use 3 Pictures for it(-2,0,+2).

So I just figured out how to do hdr.. As in just I mean like less then 5min ago lol.. Anyways since I didnt know my version of PS could do it I havent kept any of my bracketed shots so this is from a couple years ago and is complete garbage. It was shot with a canon XT and a kit lens with a fish eye adaptor zoomed it so it was a super ghetto wide angle  Also shot without a tripod and just resting the camera on a post  but it is none the less a hdr :D

its not an "effect" per say.. Its combining a over exposed and a under exposed image with a properly exposed image. So basically taking three pics and merging them to one... In simple terms anyways.

Ahhh. adapter or lens? If its an adapter and your trying to shoot in low light, zoom in as little as possible and always shoot with your back to the light. the adapter is just a distortion aid so it distorts light and often bounces it off the barrel. If theres a lot of light zoom in as much as possible so it gets rid of the barrel reflections.

zoomed in

Well the composition in general could really use some help.... Its just not a interesting pic. Whenever you shoot a pic of a car, and in particular when its not in a interesting environment, dont shoot it from a angle you normally look at the car from. So basically eye level is a no no imo. low makes it lok bigger and high makes it look smaller. Well for the most part. That and Its over exposed a bit.

mikeyb
01-09-2009, 11:15 PM

The cool thing though is that its not an actual over exposed image with HDR since the data is there in full, its just processed a tad over exposed. What are you using for your HDR's? and are you tone mapping?

That is a great shot and a very good use of real HDR. Which, imho, should really only be used for the Higher Dynamic Range of the scene (get it, H/D/R ;) )

I see so much "HDR" that look like dreamscapes on the internet it makes me want to vomit.

I agree this is the best shot in the thread. The content of the photo is key to good HDR. I sometimes like the artistic focus that over processing can bring to the scene, but too much can make it cartoonish.
