I've had my Evo since June 03, I was able to buy it 'cause I was deployed to Kuwait during the war. I was staying in a hotel while I was there and received
a per diem rate of 91 dollars-a-day. I saved almost all of the money and arrived back home with a $13,000 check. I took that money and put it down on my car at Concord Mitsu. So far, all i have is an AEM short ram intake sys.
It seems to rob my car of HP :(

Welcome to the site!

I think what most members here would tell you is to put the stock airbox back in, and put on a catback exhaust as your first power mod. An intake doesn't seem to do much good until you're making huge amounts of power.

Welcome to the site.

Yeah, Evos seem not to bee to intake friendly but if you plan on doing a whole lot later Id pull it off for now but save it for later.

I damaged each plastic bolt housing while removing the MAF unit from the air box. I dunno if it would be a good idea to put it back on the car.

all who takes off the MAF damages that part its ok... what you want to do its when you place it back on add some silicone seal on the outs bolt before you install the nut back on and wait until its completely dry before starting up the car... thats what i did and it works fine, no leak.. but welcome on board

Welcome aboard! I also did the AEM intake as one of my first mods (great deal on a used one from another member here), but I seem to have been extremely lucky in that I did get some gain from it. If you plan on doing future mods, in particular a piggyback, stand-alone, or ECU reflash, then you can have that adjusted for it and you should be fine.

welcome! as you can already see, the intake thing is just blah to most of us. i also agree with just adding a drop in air panel.
