how are you with some tools? reason why i ask is your probably looking at a few hundred dollars. if your ok with some tools and have access to some, then its a good time to learn, save the money from the labor and put it toward a stronger belt and a 12 pack, with change on the side.

otherwise, hit up SE or GST for and install quote. they can give you one right away.

Well I was just curious because of a work related injury...(my back)...Its really hard to stay bent over for long periods of time...and from the looks of teh walkthru it would take some time...Im prettymuch limited to rotating tires..that sort of thing for a while...i was just wanting to know the prices for that down there .vs up here...

When do we have to change the timing belt? 100k?

SavageEvo8
10-10-2008, 10:35 PM
generally recommended between 60k and 90k, but greatly depends on driving and abuse also....

SavageEvo8

people in redding have no patience, and no sense of humor do they? you take everything to the heart or get all defensive. just relax bro. a lot of us do our own work, so in finding out where you are, i was trying to see what tuner could help you out. contact Speed Element at 510-226-8833, or GST at 510-264-9049. either one will give you what they charge and you can use that as a comparison to your local shop.....

a lot of people also tend to change it when they do cams, headstuds, etc and on top of that there really isn't a whole lot of people that are over 60-80k and/or have changed the belt.

Ps if I was you I would save the money, sell the car and get the hell out of redding.

around $1,600 including parts, labor, and tax. This includes the timing belt service, water pump, tensioners, crank seal replacement, and 60k service.

Breakout is about $1,000 for timing belt + above; $500 for 60k service.

Got similar baseline quotes from a local mitsubishi dealership and two shops.

You must rub homeless testies all over your face to talk like a butt hugging penus gulping homo that you apparently are.

The timing belt service interval is EVERY 60k MILES! It's not 60-80k, not 60-90k. The 4G63 is not a Honda motor!
